Potsdam author Antje Rávik Strubel's prose works are fragile entities. Rávik Strubel is interested in the uncertain nature of our identities, in the question of who we are, in the voids between the roles we play. For "Voices of a City", she portrays defense attorney Andreas Sternthal, whose retrospective look at his successful career reveals fine cracks between public and private life: between bourgeois surface and a complicated love triangle, between detachment from the emotionally cold parental home of the 1950s and the awakening of the 1970s in Frankfurt.

Antje Rávik Strubel lives and works as a writer in Potsdam. After training as a bookseller, she studied literature, American studies and psychology in Potsdam and New York. The novel "Colder Layers of Air" (2007) was awarded the Rheingau Literature Prize as well as the Hermann Hesse Prize, and the novel "Fall of Days into Night" (2011) was longlisted for the German Book Prize. In 2019, she will receive the Prize of the Literature Houses. In 2016, the episodic novel "In den Wäldern des menschlichen Herzens".

In collaboration with Literaturhaus Frankfurt. Made possible by the main sponsor, the Deutsche Bank Foundation, as well as the Aventis Foundation, Deutsche Vermögensberatung, FAZIT-STIFTUNG and the Adolf and Luisa Haeuser-Stiftung für Kunst- und Kulturpflege.
