A boring boat trip? It's just for tourists. Nicole (Sistine Rose Stallone), Sasha (Corinne Foxx), Alexa (Brianne Tju) and Mia (Sophie Nélisse) would rather dive in a remote place to a sunken Mayan city. Just a quick look and then right back again. Too bad that the four girls suddenly get stuck in the underwater labyrinth and are hunted by giant white sharks, who are mischievous in this mystical underwater city. A way out is not to be found and the oxygen becomes more and more scarce. A panicky fight for survival begins….

>With the shark horror "47 Meters Down" director Johannes Roberts achieves a real surprise success. Two years ago, at production costs of around 5 million dollars, the strip was able to record almost ten times as much again in the USA alone. No wonder that a sequel had to be submitted quickly. In "47 Meters Down: Uncaged" Roberts gets his protagonists out of the protective cage and sends them into a nerve-racking underwater labyrinth. Apart from the fact that again sharks play the actual leading role, this new story has nothing in common with its predecessor. So it's not a direct sequel, but rather another chapter in the "47 Meters Down" universe.

As with its predecessor, the story itself is completely uninteresting. What's even more negative here is the fact that the protagonists get on your nerves very quickly. After half an hour with these clichéd figures, you quickly take the side of the sharks, which was certainly not the director's intention. But the behaviour of the young women is simply too annoying and too stupid to be really feverish in their fight for survival. A few completely illogical moments then further cloud the entertainment factor of this B-movie.

However - and you have to admit this to the film - the visual realization is very well done. In addition, the desperate swimming through the narrow corridors and dark corners of the old Mayan city sometimes brings real excitement, even if there are no big surprises. "47 Meters Down: Uncaged" is at the end a movie you should think about as little as possible. Then he is actually fun in many a scene. But it doesn't work that well without a good script and talented actors - and this work lacks every corner and end. And so it's enough for a rather weak one: Only conditionally worth seeing!
