Film: If the successful shoe designer Christian Louboutin and the legendary Parisian "Le Crazy Horse" meet, then something very special must arise from it. When Louboutin, whose shoes became famous for their red soles, got the chance to create some scenes for the new show of the Burlesque Varieté, he didn't have to be asked for long. Louboutin himself says that he is interested in everything with which the female body can be celebrated. The combination of his shoes, dance choreographies and aesthetically presented nudity is thus primarily meant to be one thing: an homage to the beauty of the woman. An ambitious project, which should not only be limited to the stage of "Le Crazy Horse". The performance was now also captured on film in a 1,300 sqm, completely darkened studio with the latest technology. The result is "Feu (Feuer) von Christian Louboutin", a very special film project in twelve acts.

This does not only show the individual dance performances. In between, Louboutin herself always has her say and the dancers are also allowed to introduce themselves briefly. However, these small interview sequences remain a minor matter and are quickly forgotten again. The individual performances, for which Louboutin took inspiration from the music of the American cult director David Lynch, for example, have a high visual value thanks to a very aesthetic implementation, which is especially convincing in the first minutes. Not only the bodies of the very lightly to not at all dressed ladies are set thereby extremely responding in scene. The camera also captured the actual art, namely the dancing skills of the women, very well. Here the effect of the live show was much better transferred to the cinema than was the case at Cirque du Soleil's last guest performance on the big screen.

Nevertheless there is something missing, the unique atmosphere that makes a visit to the Paris Varieté so special. And this eventually leads to the fact that after some time certain signs of fatigue spread through the viewer. The choreographies are still very nice to look at, but it's not really thrilling after one hour at the latest. The fact that for the "Le Crazy Horse" an always very similar type of woman is cast, strengthens still the impression of missing alternation. Those who value burlesque and cultivated eroticism will be offered a really special film experience, especially in the first half of the film, which comes quite close to a visit in the legendary Varieté. But almost 90 minutes are simply too long not to let the initial enthusiasm be suppressed by the ever-increasing boredom. The title "Fire" unfortunately only burns on a low flame at the end, which is why there is only one conclusion "worth seeing with a cut"!

Picture + Sound: The technical implementation of the DVD makes it clear that this film was filmed with the most modern technical equipment. Although actually designed for a 3D evaluation, the 2D version also convinces with a very high image sharpness and a pleasant colouring. The sound in most scenes is dominated by the music, which has been mixed with a pleasant three-dimensionality. The comments of Christian Louboutin and the dancers are very centrally mixed, but also sound very powerful from the speakers. Good!

Extras: The DVD itself only has the trailer for the movie to offer as a bonus. But as an extra supplement there is also a multi-page, richly illustrated booklet and a double-page poster.

Fazit: "Feu (Feuer) von Christian Louboutin" unites the creative visions of the makers of "Le Crazy Horse" and the world-famous shoe designer Christian Louboutin to a very special show, the film version of which was captured with state-of-the-art technology to bring the live feeling of the Paris Variety as close as possible to the audience. At the beginning this works out quite well, but it wears off during the 90 minutes running time, because the special atmosphere that makes a visit to "Le Crazy Horse" so special is missing. Who appreciates Burlesque and cultivated eroticism, this technically very well converted DVD can be recommended to him nevertheless nevertheless.
