Film: After having already proven that it is absolutely feasible to conjure up sophisticated dishes in 30 minutes, England's star chef Jamie Oliver now goes one step further. In his new project "Jamies 15 minutes kitchen" he shows that "fast food" can be tasty, healthy and also a little demanding. In addition to the cookbook of the same name, Oliver has also prepared the dishes listed there in front of the camera and turned them into a TV show, the first fourteen episodes of which are now available on DVD.
In each of the 23-minute episodes, Oliver cooks two dishes that are presented in a comprehensible way. There are small differences to the information in the book (in some cases the calories or the quantities vary), but overall the series is a successful visualization of the cookbook bestseller. The indication that the recipes can be prepared in only 15 minutes is of course very tight, since Oliver as a professional snips much faster than many a kitchen layman and since he has already prepared all the ingredients perfectly. A few more minutes should therefore be planned for. But the preparation of two recipes in a self-experiment (Maritime Pasta, beef Stroganoff) has proven that even hobby chefs with relatively little experience can easily and surprisingly quickly recook these recipes - and that the result is pleasantly tasty.
Vol. 1 offers the following dishes:

Picture + Clay: In a cook TV programme, technical quality is likely to play a subordinate role. The main thing here is that the dishes are presented in a tasty way - which is achieved on the DVD by the good picture sharpness and the harmonious colouring - and that the preparation instructions are easy to understand. Although it's a bit annoying that the German language version didn't fade out the English original sound completely and the German voice-over commentary was just placed over it, the stereo mix is powerful and clear enough to easily follow Jamie Oliver's instructions. Good!
Extras: Unfortunately the DVD has no extras to offer.
Fazit: The cooking show "Jamies 15 minutes kitchen" is the continuation of the successful concept that Jamie Oliver started with his "30 minutes menus", which then led to the cookbook about the "15 minutes kitchen". In the first fourteen of a total of forty episodes, the popular chef presents 28 very different recipes that can be easily recooked according to his clear instructions. Even though 15 minutes are already very short, inexperienced hobby cooks with very little time can also enjoy great taste experiences here. For all fans of Jamie Oliver and for everyone who is looking for very special "fast food" recipes, this first double DVD of the new series is absolutely recommendable!
