It could have been a life full of success and wealth. 30 years ago Rainer (Jan Josef Liefers) and his band "Bochums Steine" were on the verge of a breakthrough. Rainer thoroughly screwed up himself and his band colleagues at the time with a mistake during an important concert. Since then Rainer's life has been bumbling around and he doesn't really get anything baked either professionally or privately. When his doctor tells him that he doesn't have long to live, Rainer knows that he wants to make the most of the time he has left. On the one hand, to be a better father to his son. On the other hand he also wanted to come to terms with his former band colleagues Bulle (Armin Rohde), Konni (Matthias Bundschuh), Thomas (Richy Müller) and especially Ole (Jürgen Vogel). Whether there is enough time is more than questionable…

"So viel Zeit" tells a nice story - even if it may not be very original. The comedy follows a man who tries to make up for the biggest mistake of his life in the face of death with not exactly subtle, but at times wonderfully biting humor. Jan Josef Liefers as a failed musician and loser father is very well cast. The same applies to his former band colleagues. Granted, they're all stereotypes. But the well-chosen ensemble easily overlooks such points of criticism. Especially Armin Rohde is a great single widower.

Director Philipp Kadelbach tells the story with a lot of humor and also avoids drifting too much into kitsch for long stretches, which can already be called a small feat in view of the initial situation. Towards the end the whole thing gets too predictable and the finale with its convulsive Feelgood effort unfortunately isn't that well done at all. After all: until it comes to it, "So much time" offers entertaining, nice entertainment. It remains to be seen whether it is absolutely necessary to see them in the cinema.

Whoever wants to see a well cast tragicomedy that shows that it's never too late for a second chance is in good hands here. But those who hope for depth and dramaturgical surprises will be bitterly disappointed in the last act at the latest. All in all but still a very clear one: Worth seeing!
