The Frankfurt Tip Authors:

Sabina Brauner

Sabina Brauner has been living in the Rhine-Main area for more than 15 years and for the longest time in her desired district of Bornheim "because it connects village, city and conviviality in the most livable sense" for her. Nobody strolls through the world with such open eyes as the native of Lower Saxony, who prefers to share her discoveries with her fellow human beings on the Internet. The American and political scientist founded the blog "So nur in Frankfurt" in 2007 and is also Frankfurt's first over 40 fashion blogger on "Oceanblue Style". Here she writes mainly about lifestyle and fashion.

Wine and chocolate instead of almonds and mulled wine - on a gourmet tour

Wine and chocolate instead of almonds and mulled wine - on a gourmet tour

Even the good Goethe knew how to enjoy: “No pleasure is temporary; for the impression he leaves behind is permanent.“ And who are we then that we would resist the wisdom of this great Frankfurt man? While at the Christmas market half of the city and half of the surrounding countryside is filled with almonds and mulled wine, we prefer to feast on fine chocolate and exquisite wine. Our poet was also the best adviser here, for he said: „You know what we need: We want to sip a lot of drinks.“

Encouraged by Goethe, I went on a gourmet tour, equipped with the favourite tips of my acquaintances.

Not far from my apartment you will find the Bornheimer Weinkostladen. With his huge selection of international wines and whiskey, I feel in good hands and always well advised. It is enough to mention a wine that I like to drink in a certain price range and the owner gives me two attractive alternatives to try. Okay, before we can eat any more, I have to confess first. I like to spend my holidays in Belgium. And since then, I've been addicted to the chocolate there with all my skin and hair. I'm afraid so. J Especially at Christmas time I like to sneak over to the Roßmarkt to shop for business friends or to enjoy the truffles “Mathilde“.

I can see it's turning into a confessional post… I'm also a fan of the Belgian Queen Mathilde, whose wedding these truffles were created for: dark chocolate hand-garnished with a royal “M“. Royal pleasure! Do I still have to tell you that I never leave the store without a pack of champagne truffles? *sigh This tenderly melting pleasure is really incomparable. For me, the feasting of chocolate is actually only surpassed by its production. A whole pot of liquid chocolate? Am I the only one who likes this chocolate fountain? If not, the visit of “Michis Schokoatelier“ is highly recommended to everyone. In front of his shop, delicacies with whole orange peels are tempting, while the open counter reveals the production process. I'm not a chef's mom at all, but I'll work in the kitchen! Maybe I'll finally book a chocolate seminar there….I'll be happy to share my results J If only virtually…..Where do you like to feast most?
