Finally sitting outside again! The sun is warming up, our winter-ridden skin is craving light, and we're craving sweet idleness, so the nearest city café isn't far away. But there is still room for improvement! With the simple formula: Café plus green space. Unlike at the roadside, enjoying yourself in the park is like taking a little vacation from everyday life. No house casts a shadow, instead there is light in the open countryside. Bumblebees buzz around on the wild lawn while we wait for warm apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and the biggest latte the neat little house in Grüneburgpark has to offer.

The pavilion can be found in the immediate vicinity of the Korean garden and the university's new Westend campus. Open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., the park café called <link http: www.park-cafe.net _blank>"Park Café" is open weather permitting. If you don't trust the weather app, you can just call ahead. The menu offers down-to-earth items like salads, tarte flambée or pizza corners to satisfy small appetites. The easiest access is from Albert-Siebert-Straße, although parking is very limited in the adjacent residential area.

So it's better to take the Radl. Above all, a tour to a real insider tip is worthwhile, which is found just behind the Friedberger Warte northeast of the city on the outskirts of Seckbach: A beautiful avenue leads to the <link http: www.bergstation-frankfurt.de _blank>"BERGstation" in Huthpark, which would surely have reminded Theodor Fontane of his hike through the Mark Brandenburg. By the way, the hilly Huthpark is one of the few parks where dogs are allowed to romp around freely. On top of a hill, a garden pavilion has been there since the 1930s. After many unused years, it has finally been rebuilt true to the original, and was designed by employees of the renowned Bauhaus architect Ernst Mays. Now a listed building, the interior is chic with red leather chairs and neutral colours. The architectural gem is characterized by a rotunda with a round canopy roof, slender round pillars and a bastion-like wall. The daytime restaurant has a terrace with fabulous views and is open between 12pm and 7pm during the week.

Another three parks with food options:

West/Rödelheim ~ Brentanto Park with water hut On the Island

East End ~ East Park: water hut located in the southern part of the park.

Northend/Bornheim ~ Günthersburgpark : Small kiosk café on Comeniusstraße
