How hip is Frankfurt?

How hip is Frankfurt?
How hip is Frankfurt?
How hip is Frankfurt?

Opinions do not differ about Frankfurt. Those who don't know the city nurture their negative prejudices. Those who live here know better and don't want to leave. Of course everything is smaller here than in London and New York. On the other hand, many residents love Frankfurt precisely because of its "compactness" and never tire of raving about its "internationality in a small space". And they are right. But with Brexit, the question of how far the cosmopolitan flair on the Main will go has been given new impetus. Nothing has been decided yet, but the imagination knows no bounds. All the urbane people who will be drawn here then!!! :-)

Can Frankfurt live up to their claims? If I look at the marketing of the city, then probably not. Skyline, Römer, Schnarch - maybe Asian clichés are fulfilled with that, but it's not hip.

ALSO: HOW HIPP IS FRANKURT?

Just last night I discovered a bar with a group of seminar participants in the Bahnhofsviertel: the Mey Weinbar in Elbestraße. A thick wine list and varied starters are offered by the waitress with a French accent. The hip interior, made of stone walls with glass lampshades, provides the hip factor. It's small here, but not cramped. The limited seating makes for a pleasant atmosphere with relaxed patrons. And the music allows for conversation.

Naturally, the Bahnhofsviertel with its hip bars is the poster child when it comes to quirky and unusual places: rightly so, after all, it has been awarded the title "Place to Go" by the New York Times. This is due in no small part to places like "Maxie Eisen," which specializes in New York sandwiches, or the casually modern "Stanley Diamond" with its regional specialties. But beyond that: who has already discovered the Speak-Easy Bar "The Parlour"? Feel free to contact us with your experiences!

NO HIPNESS WITHOUT ARTISTS

No hipness without artists, of course. Those cavort in the east of the city. Not only the "Kunstverein Familie Montez" caused a sensation last fall with its exhibition of Annie Leibovitz photos. In Atelier Frankfurt, for example, <link http: oceanbluestyle.blogspot.de _blank>glove designer Evelyn Toomistu has her studio. She offers leather goods with chicken feet, among other things. Speaking of art: don't forget - the Night of Museums takes place this weekend!

But beyond the Ostend, the streets between Kaiserdom and Mainufer have been developing into the new in district for some time now: galleries have been there for a while. Now design shops like the "Tree House" or the "Design 70", which offers weird and shrill art in the style of the 70s, are added. And where there are cool shops, the Cafés can't be missing: around the fisherman's spot you'll find "Moloko by the Sea" and "Sugar Mama", with their homemade treats now also the "Holy Cross Brewing Society" - you don't even get more Brooklyn than that.

And favorite spots? Can be found in every borough. In the summer, Frankfurters head to the nearby and hidden Schwedlersee, when they're not basking on the banks of the Main, gazing dreamily at the skyline and congratulating themselves on being able to live in such a hip city.
