"Nie mehr 2. Liga", sang the fans of the Frankfurt Eintracht after the successful re-promotion to the first football Bundesliga for the 2005/2006 season. Unfortunately, as is well known, this wish was not fulfilled, and last season the club once again plummeted into the Second Division. And the fans? They were sad, disappointed - but still remain loyal to their favourite club - and do so wholeheartedly. Because even if Eintracht Frankfurt has to deal with various failures time and again, the fans can always be relied on. Reason enough to set them a small memorial, which has now been implemented with the illustrated book "Eintracht - Deine Fans" by the photographer Olaf Gallas in a very worth seeing way in reality.

After a short greeting by Nils Bremer, the editor-in-chief of the Journal Frankfurt, and two sympathetic forewords by Henni Nachtsheim ("Badesalz") and the long-time stadium speaker Axel "Beve" Hoffmann, 85 completely uncommented portraits follow, in which the photos often say more about fan love than long essays could. From a few small quotes that follow the photos, the 85 fans let their faces, clothes, accessories, or body paint do the talking.

The special thing about those portrayed is that, as different as they may be in age, gender, attitude, appearance or origin, they are all united by a love of their football club, making a harmonious community out of this colourful bunch. The love for Eintracht is expressed in very different ways. While fan Richard, for example, has come to the shoot wearing a feather coat in keeping with the club's mascot, or Helga, even though she no longer belongs to the younger generation, still proudly wears her Eintracht shirt, Manfred "Adi" has not let himself be deprived of dedicating a prominent place on his tattooed torso to Eintracht. The pregnant Sabine is already making sure that her offspring will also be an Eintracht fan, which has apparently been the case with little Luca. At least the little fan wears his Eintracht outfit with pride - much to the delight of his proud daddy. And also the outfit of the loyal supporters Heike and Michael is a real eye-catcher.

"Eintracht - Deine Fans" is a book by fans about fans for fans. A beautiful coffee table book that knows how to capture the unifying love for a football club in beautiful portraits. And even if the club's performances are not always at the highest level, one look at these many different people, united by their passion, is enough to make you want to join this community and cheer the boys from Frankfurt Eintracht back into the First Division.
