Where can my child play at its best, where can I still experience a little nature? Where can birthdays be celebrated and where are there cultural offers suitable for children? Who do I turn to if my child has problems with learning or with his classmates? Where can I go shopping that is good and inexpensive? And how can I offer my child delicious, but also healthy food? Not only parents in the big city deal with these and many other questions every day. For the Frankfurt and Rhine-Main region, there is now a special issue from the Journal Frankfurt that provides answers to many of these questions and offers numerous helpful tips on topics such as moving, discovering, eating, health, finances, pregnancy and birth.

On scarcely 150 sides and in four small special issues for taking out "Frankfurt & Rhine Main with children" tries to be a compact, clear and in particular helpful councellor for everything which has to do with spare time and education. And that creates the attractively arranged booklet also very well! Admittedly, some areas come a little too short. For example, the children's and youth libraries listed here are only a fraction of what the region has to offer. Committed houses like the city and school library Kelsterbach, whose children and youth area is characterised by an unbelievably broad offer, which offers children of all age groups more than some of the recommendations listed here, unfortunately fall thereby under the table. But overall, the tips are extensive and, above all, varied enough to satisfy every need and all different tastes.

It's especially nice that this booklet was not only made for children, but also with them. So at the beginning some children are allowed to tell what in their eyes makes Frankfurt and the surrounding area so great for children and where there is still room for improvement. The texts that introduce the various sections are written in a very interesting way and also offer a lot of helpful advice, for example when it comes to the topic of "Safe surfing on the net" or the right to a daycare place. The venues, localities and institutions presented are vividly described in short accompanying texts and all necessary information such as address, Internet presence, opening hours or contact options is provided.

It is very difficult to really cover all the different areas adequately on 150 pages. Fun, health, concerns, education - these are all topics that could fill entire books on their own. But "Frankfurt & Rhein-Main mit Kindern" manages very well to focus on the essentials and thus offer parents a very good and helpful overview of what can make the lives of their children in and around Frankfurt more beautiful, exciting and safe. In addition, as a little bonus, there are 24 leisure time vouchers for families, which offer discounts, 2 for 1 offers and free admission to selected partners (Palmengarten Galli Theater, Waldzoo Offenbach, Deutsches Filmmuseum and others). All this and the low price of just 5.80 euros makes this special issue absolutely recommendable for families!
