When you think of Frankfurt, of the banking metropolis, of Mainhattan, one word usually doesn't immediately come to mind: green! Yet, statistically speaking, the city on the Main is one of the greenest major cities in Europe. The city forest alone and the 70 km long green belt make an enormously important contribution to this. But there are still quite a few parks, smaller forests and facilities that make Frankfurt a green city in the truest sense of the word.

Nearly three years ago Sonja Thelen published her guide to green Frankfurt with B3 Verlag, in which she presented all the parks, green spaces, the city forest and the green belt. This book has now been published in a second revised and supplemented edition. Like many other books from B3 Verlag, "Grünes Frankfurt" again shows many facets of the city, some of them unknown, which could even show old-established Frankfurt residents new sides of their home. In addition to the well-known green destinations, such as the Palmengarten, the Grüneburgpark, the banks of the Main or the Stadtwald, the handy book also presents smaller or hidden hideaways in the urban jungle. The book is not only intended to whet the reader's appetite for discovering the green sides of Frankfurt. The reader should also be informed about the individual destinations. Thus, for example, possible opening hours and admission prices are indicated as well as the presence of children's playgrounds and gastronomy or the possibility to let the beloved four-legged friend run free or to be allowed to prepare delicious barbecue with his friends.

In contrast to the first edition, the revised version not only highlights the changes that have taken place in recent years, such as the redevelopment of Rothschild Park or all that has happened on the northern bank of the Main. It also takes a look into the future and presents parks that are currently being created. The best example of this is the Kätcheslachpark in Riedberg, Frankfurt's youngest district, or the Hafenpark in Ostend, in whose design the citizens were able to actively participate.

With many atmospheric, interesting texts by Frankfurt native Sonja Thelen, compactly listed information and numerous illustrations, "Grünes Frankfurt" is the perfect companion for the summer. Whether by bike, car, public transport or on foot, the book shows many great ways to explore Frankfurt's green oases. Whether the beautiful Schwanheimer dunes, the light and air bath Niederrad, the Bethmann Park or the paradisiacal garden Nice directly on the Main, here really everyone finds the perfect destination. Absolutely recommendable!
