It's not always just the sumptuous meals, the big dishes, that make a real culinary treat. Often it is also - or even more so - worth discovering small regional dishes. CoCon Verlag has now dedicated a beautiful book to just such small delicacies: In "Hessen Tapas", Ingrid Schick celebrates her love for her home state of Hesse and for her favorite vacation spot, Andalusia, and the appetizer culture that connects these two regions. Together with regional star chefs and other culinary enthusiasts from Hessen, she presents fifty little delicacies that not only delight the palate but also reveal all sorts of interesting facts about the region.

So the reader gets to know one of the last oil mills in Amöneburg, learns that there is real caviar in the Rhön or what makes the Vogelsberger potato sausage so special. Hessian Tapas with fish, meat, game and poultry, cheese, in completely vegetarian variant or with high percentage are presented framed by informative accompanying texts. There the interested reader then finds such different delicacies as venison praline with cranberries, pumpkin-onion empanada, grape truffles from the Bensheim Fürstenlager, Welsch tapa with lardo or Flörsbacher fish terrine.

The recipes are presented clearly and comprehensibly and are always supplemented by all kinds of helpful tips. It is quite the same, on one it rather deftig likes, like with the Fleischwurst Burger, whether one would like to dare at snails in baking dough or whether one the sense rather after Hessen wraps with ragout of the asparagus stands, the book holds actually for each taste the correct ready. If you are looking for original appetizers for a party or simply delicious tapas for a cozy dinner for two, in "Hessen Tapas" you are guaranteed to find the right tips for a tasty evening! Recommendable!
