Grass doesn't grow any faster when you pull on it. With his collection of columns "Den Schal enger schnallen und in die Ohren spucken" Hendrick Nachtsheim, part of the comedy duo "Badesalz" and self-confessed Eintracht fan, has delivered a more than respectable success, in which not only football fans can have great pleasure. Now Nachtsheim is following up with "Mein Eintracht-Tagebuch". The second collection of columns, which Nachtsheim has published for several years in various newspapers, once again manages the balancing act between everyday humor, sports expertise and contagious passion.

The way in which the playful ups and downs of Eintracht in the 2008/2009 season is highlighted here is simply fun to read. Even if you, like the writer of these lines, only extremely rarely come into contact with the round leather and can not really understand the fascination that is triggered by 22 grown men running after this little ball, the passion that Hendrick Nachtsheim brings to his favorite club is extremely contagious. Probably because he uses little stories from everyday life to explain Eintracht's games and the players' performances in more detail in an original way.

For example, he compares Eintracht's 1:1 against Bayern Munich with a man from the US state of Colorado who was run over by a car twice in one day and only suffered minor injuries. Or Eintracht's performance is equated with a crazy dream made up of all of Nachtsheim's favorite shows. That's when the concept of "mindmapping" is explained in order to establish realistic goals for Eintracht's positioning in the standings. The reader gets to know the different facets of Nachtheim's buddy "Brocken", who sometimes despairs when he thinks back to the times when his favorite club could still bring in one victory after the next. Or the work of Michael Skibbe brings back memories of Nachtsheim's maternal grandmother and her porcelain dachshund.

"Mein Eintracht-Tagebuch" mixes in a charming way Hendrick Nachtsheim's humor with his contagious passion for a club that he stood by faithfully even in not so good times. There is no shortage of criticism, but it is always applied in such a way that the author's expertise, on the one hand, but also his love for Eintracht, remains palpable. An entertaining, amusing book, which is a must for every Eintracht fan, but also fun if you have only a limited or no idea about the Bundesliga and its clubs. Absolutely recommendable!
