Inspector Andreas Rauscher is back and investigates in his now eighth case.

In "Einzige Liebe" it hits the investigator from Frankfurt on a personal level, because of all things a fan of his favorite club Eintracht Frankfurt is found during a game near the Commerzbank Arena (sorry, that must of course mean Waldstadion). The investigation turns out to be extremely difficult, which is why Rauscher's new girlfriend, Inspector Jana Kern, also offers her help - after all, she is a passionate Eintracht fan herself. But Jana's willingness to help becomes a real problem when her involvement is torpedoed from high up - for very private reasons. And so Rauscher has to investigate without his Jana again, unaware that she is going ahead on her own. And that could have very dangerous consequences.

"Einzige Liebe" worthily continues the tradition of Gerd Fischer's Rauscher crime novels. There is plenty of local color, a thrilling case intertwined with true backgrounds of Frankfurt history (in this case, Frankfurt sports history). If you know your way around Frankfurt, you will recognize a lot here. This applies not only to places, streets or localities, but also to typical Frankfurt customs. Well observed are the endearing quirks and the unmistakable preferences of the Frankfurters, for which Inspector Rauscher is not only because of his last name so appreciated especially in Old Sachsenhausen quasi a prime example.

The crime plot of the novel is excitingly constructed and can actually entertain well until the end. For readers who have read previous cases of the commissioner, however, it is also nice to see that his private story keeps developing and keeps providing new entanglements. If you thought that the chapter of Elke and their son Max was closed, you are very wrong. It is interesting how Rauscher has developed as a person in the course of the books, respectively how often his profession, but also his stubbornness stood in his way, whereby his life has taken unexpected paths.

"Einzige Liebe" is an exciting, entertaining Frankfurt and Eintracht crime novel, which continues the Rauscher series very successfully and offers an entertaining read especially for all lovers of the Main metropolis with a lot of local color and its regionally oriented history. For this there is a very clear: Worth reading!
