ASTRONAUT - Director Shelagh McLeod & Space Expert Laura Winterling in Film Talk

At Cinema you can experience a very special film premiere on October 14. The tragicomedy ASTRONAUT, which will be in theaters starting Oct. 15, will be shown. In the film, a 75-year-old man, played by Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss, takes one last run at reaching - literally - for the stars. Director Shelagh McLeod also shows that wishes have no expiration date - the Canadian actress made her directorial debut with ASTRONAUT at the age of 50+. Together with space expert Laura Winterling she talks about her film on the occasion of the theatrical release on a Germany-wide premiere tour.

Thereby it goes with the German premiere in Frankfurt:

Wednesday, October 14, 2020, 20.00 (reception) | 20.30 (start of film) at Cinema

And that's what the film is about:

All his life, retired highway engineer Angus Stewart (Richard Dreyfuss) has dreamed of going into space as an astronaut. Now, at 75, the fulfillment of his longing is suddenly within his grasp once again: In the first commercial space flight by visionary self-made billionaire Marcus Brown (Colm Feore), a free ticket is to be awarded via a national contest. Angus, well over the age limit, manipulates his birth date and enters the contest. With no chance, he battles prejudice, his own declining health, his family, and time to win the ticket and embark on the journey of his dreams.

Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss, who hunted monsters in Jaws and boarded a UFO in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, once again answers the call of space in this heartwarming tragicomedy.
