Content: What were once talk and court shows, is now scripted reality. Formats such as Verklag mich doch or fraud currently dominate the afternoon program of private channels. After the end of the last Big Brother season, RTL II came up with a very special coup for the early evening: a mixture of the daily soaps and scripted reality formats that have been so successful with the competition. The success proves those responsible right: Berlin - Day & Night has now become an important flagship for the channel, which not only on TV but also on DVD is doing so well that an imminent end of the series is not particularly likely.

Meanwhile, the eleventh DVD box set has been released, which contains the episodes of weeks 41 to 44 on four discs. In the almost 900 minutes of this box it goes in the Berlin WGs again high. For example, preparations for Joe and Peggy's wedding are in full swing when Peggy's mother Inge suddenly appears in the flat-sharing community. She is convinced that her husband is cheating on her, and so she takes up residence with her daughter. This soon gets on Joe's nerves and he successfully tries to mediate between Inge and Günther. Out of gratitude, Peggy invites Joe's parents, with whom he hasn't had any contact for years - with disastrous consequences. Ole, on the other hand, already believes he has reached the top of the hit heaven. Since his producer has so far refused to produce a music video for Ole, he simply takes matters into his own hands. The not exactly professional video seems to be a big hit on the internet. And Ole finally has success with the women. But the truth unfortunately looks quite different.

Hanna has completely different worries: after kissing Joshua at a party, she would like to be more than just a good friend. But Joshua only has eyes for Michelle, who has no real feelings for him. She just wants to keep him warm, which upsets Hanna so much that it comes to a break between the friends. And Marcel and Meike are also in a deep relationship crisis, in which Sara is not entirely innocent. After Giulia rejects him, Carlos consoles himself with her sister Stephania. But that he has actually given his heart to Giulia, he can not hide for long.

These are admittedly only some of the events that provide in the episodes 196 to 215 for a lot of turmoil, strife and heartbreak. The series again stays true to the style so popular with fans, mixing drama, humor and romance in a simplistic reality feel, making it very easy for fans (even if most of them should know by now that their idols are merely staged artificial characters) to identify with the characters and their little problems, worries and successes. Even after more than 200 episodes, this has no real depth and no particularly high quality, neither in terms of acting nor dramaturgy. But if you can get involved with the format and are entertained by it, you can quickly become addicted to more. And for such viewers then also applies to Box 11 again: recommendable!

Picture + Sound: The technical implementation of the DVD is as with the previous boxes on a good TV level. The picture is very clean, displaying decent overall sharpness and authentic coloration for a TV production of this format. The stereo sound lets the dialogue sound powerful from the speakers, otherwise only the music determines the tonal events. For a docu-soap, this is perfectly adequate. Good!

Extras: As a bonus there is only a music video of Ole. In addition, the box is still a BTN bottle opener.

Conclusion: Berlin - day & night continues to run on the unexpected success track. The scripted reality soap has now not only a spin-off also quite successful, but has also been extended for another few months. An end to the stories about the Berlin WGs is not yet in sight. For loyal fans, the DVD boxes offer the nice opportunity to experience the complete series over and over again. TV junkies who are not enthusiastic about such formats will hardly be able to understand this. But those who love Joe, Peggy, Ole, Marcel, Meike and Co. will also be happy about this eleventh DVD box set with the episodes from weeks 41 to 44. And only for such fans then again: Recommended!
