Largo Winch II: The Burma Conspiracy - DVD

Film: Largo Winch (Tomer Sisley) is back! After taking over as head of the W Group following his father's death, he now surprises the world with a surprise announcement: Largo wants to sell the billion-dollar corporation and put all the proceeds into a humanitarian foundation. But just as Largo signs the contract, UN chief prosecutor Diane Francken (Sharon Stone) appears on his luxury yacht and confronts Largo with unbelievable accusations: the W Group is alleged to have been involved in a cruel genocide in Burma and Largo, who was there at the time, is said to be directly responsible for the deaths of the people on behalf of his father. Largo has little time to prove his innocence. But the journey into his and his father's past quickly becomes a hard-hitting battle for survival as well.

Largo Winch II is once again based on the successful comic book series by Philippe Francq. As with the first adaptation, Jérome Salle was once again in the director's chair and Tomer Sisley also slips into the role of billionaire heir and adventurer Largo Winch for a second time. Even though the story itself might remind you more of a white-collar thriller, Part II is once again thrilling action entertainment in the best James Bond style. The action sequences are staged in a first-class manner and are of international standard at every moment. Whether it's a car chase or a tense duel, Largo Winch always knows how to convince as an action hero. Beautiful locations and attractive women are two other aspects that the French hero has in common with his British counterpart.

However, it must also be mentioned that there are some noticeable lengths during the course of Largo Winch II: The Burma Conspiracy, due to dialogue sequences that are a bit too drawn out and the not entirely successful attempts at comedic moments. However, in the end, these lengths carry little negative weight. This is because Salle's production always picks up the pace in the necessary moments, which can lead to the all-important release of adrenaline in inclined viewers, making the small moments of cultivated boredom quickly forgotten.

Largo Winch II: The Burma Conspiracy may still not be quite in the same league as James Bond. But thanks to convincing action sequences and a charismatic lead actor, this French action hero doesn't need to hide from its international competitors. If you like noble action thrillers and can overlook minor weaknesses, this second adventure of Largo Winch can again be absolutely recommended. Image + Sound: The technical realization of the home theater premiere can be seen and heard. The partly very beautiful images come thanks to good overall sharpness, coherent coloring and decent contrasts very well. The sound pleases thanks to some neat surround effects that provide some life in the home theater alongside the quieter dialogue scenes. Very Good!

Extras: The bonus material is on the second DVD. It starts here with a very worth seeing Making of, which has turned out with just under 50 minutes pleasantly detailed. Like the Making of Part I, the documentary for Part II also delights with a refreshing honesty. Again, a lot of things are shown that went wrong during the shooting and caused tensions on the set. But at the same time it becomes obvious with what passion the makers were at work here. A worth seeing extra, which is supplemented by some interviews (approx. 30 min.) and the trailers to parts 1 and 2. Good!

Conclusion: Largo Winch II: The Burma Conspiracy is a worthy successor to the surprise success of 2008. Despite some lengths, the second part can also convince with great action, exotic locations and an exciting story. The DVD is technically very well implemented and also the bonus material knows how to convince. For lovers of good action entertainment is therefore also: absolutely recommendable!
