Film: Kids, how time flies. It's been almost two decades since Mundstuhl stormed the German comedy scene with the characters Dragan and Alder. Since then, Lars Niedereichholz and Andre Werner have presented eight live programs, which they have repeatedly performed in front of sold-out houses throughout the country. In addition, they are welcome guests at various TV events such as TV Total Turmspringen, have invented one of the most successful ringtones ever (The Two Cups), have sold over 1 million CDs, singles (including the iconic Christmas medley) and live DVDs, published a successful book, won an Echo and and and...

Ausnahmezustand is the name of the current program of the two Hessians, with which they have been touring the country since 2012 with their usual success. In April 2014, the whole thing was recorded live at the Hofgarten Kabarett Aschaffenburg and now released as a DVD and double CD. In the program there is of course a reunion with Dragan and Alder, who talk about Alder's latest favorite drink Aperol Scheperitz, but also with other popular characters like Peggy &. Sandy, who talk about Peggy's new boyfriend who wants sex with her even though she has the painters in the basement, or with genius product inventors Bob & Bob, who have invented a great product to combat unemployment. In addition, there are barbecue tips with the Grillschorsch, the long-awaited comeback of Siegfried and Roy or even an appearance by Andie, who met his new old lady on assi-partner.de. Musical interludes (El Lute, Sand im Po) and some video interludes (Mundstuhl im Wald, C- und F-Hörnchen) may of course not be missing.

Ausnahmezustand offers fans exactly what they love about Mundstuhl. Thus it comes already with the entrance number to the first argument between Lars and Andre, who talk themselves thereby in used amusing rage. Then the audience learns how to heat with penguins, why Actimel is dirt and why giraffes are assholes. And Mundstuhl can't resist a little side blow - which can also be understood as a respectful bow - in the direction of their colleagues from Badesalz. These and all the following gags in the 90 minutes are not necessarily what is praised in the feuilleton or what is generally known as subtle humour. Mundstuhl have always been a bit cruder and many gags are close to the belt, sometimes even below it.

But that's exactly what fans love about the duo. Otherwise they would not have such a respectable success far beyond the borders of Hesse for almost two decades. The fact that they have only marginally varied their style in this time and have not noticeably evolved is not really a bad thing. Because they give their fans exactly what they want to see and what they can still laugh about after eight live programs. And therefore there is also for this DVD again a very clear: worth seeing!

Picture + sound: For a live DVD, the picture and sound quality of the program can fully convince. The DVD's picture is very clean and features decent overall sharpness and cohesive coloration. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is rather unspectacular overall, but allows the voices and music to sound well intelligible and powerful from the speakers. For a live recording of a comedy program, this is perfectly satisfactory. Good!

Extras: As a bonus there is a video clip for the song Sand im Po (approx. 3:58 min.), as well as the clip Im Hotel (approx. 1 min.), as well as the unusual promo with the charming title Wichser (approx. 0:40 min.).

Conclusion: Ausnahmezustand offers exactly what fans can expect from a Mundstuhl program. There is a reunion with popular characters such as Dragan & Alder, Peggy & Sandy or the Grillschorsch. There are the usual cabbles between the two comedians, many hearty jokes, a few amusing interludes and also some music. Fans of the duo will once again get their money's worth with this program. The DVD presents the recording from Aschaffenburg in adequate picture and sound quality. The bonus material is rather meager, but fans can still risk a look here. Overall, there is a deserved: "highly recommended!
