Officer`s wife Kate Taylor (Kristin Scott Thomas) acts outwardly controlled and calm, which seems very overbearing to many other wives on a British military base. But on the inside, Kate - like the other wives on - is consumed with concern for her husband's life. A recreational activity together is supposed to give the women a new lease on life. But it should be something that goes beyond the usual tea drinking and knitting. With the support of Lisa (Sharon Horgan), who sets the tone among the women, Kate starts a choir. But the two completely different women quickly clash - and the choir project quickly threatens to fail again. But when it becomes clear what joy singing together brings the women, Kate and Lisa pull themselves together and lead the choir together. When an incredible offer comes along to showcase the up-and-coming singers' skills to the public, perfect harmony seems to have been achieved - but appearances are deceptive.

"Mrs Taylor`s Singing Club" is a charming feel-good drama inspired by the true story of the Military Wives Choirs, a network of 75 choirs on British military bases across the UK and in conflict zones. Filming took place at RMB Catterick (North Yorkshire), the military base where the first choir of military wives was formed. In addition, real soldiers and their families were hired as extras. It becomes clear that director Peter Cattaneo ("All or Nothing") wants to portray the real role models and their partners in war as true to life as possible and not turn them into walking clichés. He does not always succeed in this, because of course there are very stereotypically drawn characters in the film.

But at least the film manages to make the characters seem sympathetic throughout, so that one enjoys watching - and listening to - their attempts to make a really good chorus out of the simple women soldiers. At the same time, "Mrs. Taylor`s Singing Club" may not be particularly profound. Certainly the story could have been told differently from an emancipatory point of view. And yes, the plot is very predictable for long stretches. But the film also doesn't want to surprise at all. It doesn't want to be an in-depth social study. No, it wants to inject its audience with a good dose of happiness - and it succeeds in its own way.

With numerous well-known songs in very pleasant choral arrangements, as well as a heartrending new composition, the film alone provides a feel-good musical blanket that you'll love to snuggle up in. The good actresses and the beautiful story intensify this impression even more. So if you're just looking for some light entertainment with nice music, if you don't need a lot of dramaturgical depth to be entertained, this is the movie for you. For this there is clearly a: Worth seeing!
