Scorch Supernova is a true superhero on his home planet Baab. He faces every danger, no matter how great, and every adventure, no matter how dangerous, he handles with flying colors. That he wouldn't be able to do all these heroic deeds without his brother Gary, who leads the missions from the mission control of the BASA control base, is not only overlooked by his admirers. Scorch himself doesn't really appreciate his brother's work either. And at some point Gary has had enough. After a quarrel he quits his job and Scorch now has to make his way all alone to the dangerous planet Earth, from which no one has ever returned. And indeed, Scorch Supernova also falls into a trap of the nasty General Shanker, who puts Scorch into the infamous Area 51 with numerous other alien prisoners. And now Gary, of all people, is the last hope to get his brother out of there alive.

Nix wie weg - vom Planeten Erde is a colorful, somewhat chaotic animated adventure. Some scenes may be borrowed from other films like Monsters vs. Aliens, Gary very reminiscent of Kif from Futurama, and a gag about what the aliens trapped on Earth have done for humanity stolen almost 1:1 from the comedy Paul. But even if the animated fun lacks its own ideas, it still has some really amusing gags and nice characters to offer, which together with the fast pace of the production keep the entertainment value at a decent level.

The idea that humans have been trapping aliens and holding them captive in Area 51 for decades offers plenty of potential. In some scenes, it's used really well. In addition, the machinations of the ruthless Shanker, wonderfully voiced by William Captain Kirk Shatner in the original, add a bit of kid-friendly tension to the story. But the subplots, such as the obligatory struggle of the loser father for the recognition of his son, the not exactly new conflict between the brothers or secret machinations within the BASA control base, are simply too unimaginatively implemented to adequately support the good ideas of the script.

So Nix wie weg - vom Planeten Erde is a nice little animated film for little alien fans. Nothing more, but also nothing less. A few nice 3D effects also ensure that the young target audience here definitely gets its money's worth. But in direct comparison with technically and dramaturgically more sophisticated works from the houses of Pixar or Dreamworks, the film can not keep up. And despite some really good gags, about which you can laugh heartily even as an adult, the pleasure for viewers over 12 years is very limited. For children who like it colorful and fast, but there is still a clear: worth seeing!
