Oliver Pocher - It`s my life - Aus dem Leben eines B-Promis
Film: He was the "Bad Boy" of Viva and celebrated great success with his show "Rent a Pocher", his very special World Cup coverage, the World Cup song "Black and White", the game show marathon and regular guest appearances in other comedy shows: the talk is of course of Oliver Pocher. For some, Pocher is THE new hope in comedy heaven par excellence, for others he is simply a big pain in the ass whose humor far too often crosses the boundaries of good taste - a fact that has already gotten the young comedian into a lot of trouble. But there is no question that Pocher is damn quick-witted and really talented, which fans - and of course also doubters - can convince themselves of, because Pocher came in July 2007 for the grand finale of his first solo comedy program "It`s my Life - Aus dem Leben eines B-Promis" once again for two days to Frankfurt, where in the Jahrhunderthalle this grand finale was also recorded for the later live DVD. And just this double DVD is now also available in stores.
On the first DVD is the complete live program with a playing time of just under 140 minutes. The program leaves an overall rather ambivalent impression. Sure: Oliver Pocher has a lot of funny ideas and a few elements of the show are really funny (e.g. when Pocher interacts directly with his audience), but overall it is very obvious that Oliver Pocher presents his first stand up comedy program. Often he seems a bit too tense, too stilted and the whole thing too memorized to really please. But that there is potential can't be denied at all. What's really funny is that for the DVD part of the show had to be changed at least acoustically. As soon as he starts his famous Alexander Klaws parody, the sound fades out and Pocher explains that Mr. Bohlen's lawyers had forbidden his music to be included on the DVD. This is pure reality comedy!!
Picture and sound: There is actually little to fault about the picture. Clean and clear and a good color mixing make minimal weaknesses such as slight image flicker at one or the other place quickly forgotten. That the sound is also pretty well done, is especially clear at the beginning, when Oliver Pocher sweeps across the stage to various "It`s my Life" songs or pays homage to the Backstreet Boys.
Extras: About the show, you can say what you want. But the bonus material leaves now really no criticism. Here the fans are really offered a lot. It starts on the first DVD with an audio commentary on the show by Oliver Pocher. Here Pocher surprises with the fact that he does not only repeat gags from his program or tears cheap jokes, but primarily informative about the work on the show and his various jobs, etc. tells. This audio commentary is really worth listening to and is funnier in places than the program itself.
The second DVD really packs a punch. Here, a detailed look behind the scenes of the show and Oliver Pocher's work is delivered. For example, in "Mission Klagenfurt" fans can watch him trying to get to a gig in Klagenfurt as punctually as possible, despite traffic jams and bad weather. What the comedian and his people set in motion for this is very interesting. Furthermore you can accompany Oliver Pocher through a very "normal" day, experience with him his very personal football-"spring fairy tale" or look over his shoulder before his performance in the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt. In addition, there is an outtake from the program, the second part of the show condensed into 2 minutes and a video of Olli's very first performance. If that's not enough, there are some short impressions of life "On the Road" and a very amusing, posed talk show with Pocher and some perfectly masked crew members. In all, this bonus DVD offers nearly 100 minutes of amusing supplemental material that no fan should miss!
Conclusion: Pocher fans can't pass up this DVD. While the show can't really convince compared to slightly more experienced (and better) colleagues, the extras alone make the purchase of this double DVD an absolute must for fans!
