Film: Since 2005 Bastian Pastewka now already shines in his parade role as - Bastian Pastewka! And also in the fifth season of "Pastewka" stumbles the actor and comedian again from one Fettnäpfchen into the next. He gets into it with all the fans of the 1st FC Cologne, which has disastrous consequences for his everyday life in the cathedral city, which his brother Hagen (Matthias Matschke) and his father Volker (Dietrich Hollinderbäumer) also feel. There he puts himself with the wealthy parents of his long-term girlfriend Anne (Sonsee Neu) more than once properly in the nettles, has visions of Bernd, the bread and proves together with Hagen as not exactly the best house sitter, what father Volker must experience in the particularly painful way.

But Pastewka's professional life is also turbulent. He has a tough duel with Michael Kessler for a role in a more than promising sitcom, tries desperately to get a guest role in the new series "Danni Lowinski", tries his hand at a charity marathon or completes a very special edition of "Schlag den Star" with his permanent enemy Svenja Bruck (Bettina Lamprecht). Chaotic, neurotic and above all really funny, that's how the ten new episodes of "Pastewka" present themselves, which are still available on DVD before the end of the first broadcast on TV.

It is again wonderful with how much self-irony Bastian Pastewka goes to business here. The same applies to his many colleagues, who sometimes play small, sometimes larger guest roles, including a lecherous Hugo Egon Balder, a not really friendly Vera Int-Veen, a biting Matthias Opdenhövel or an extremely sporty Wigald Boning. Here, show business is not glamorous at all, but filled with envy and merciless competition. Michael Kessler is sometimes lured to Frankfurt by an impeccable Til Schweiger imitation, or Hugo Egon Balder is denounced as an old groper just so that Pastewka can get jobs. What is particularly amusing are the vulgarities that the stars throw at each other, always with a professional smile on their faces. Especially the word fights between Pastewka and Michael Kessler, but also between the dream duo from the "Wixxer"-films provide for several good laughs.

What also makes the fifth season worth watching is that there is also some movement in the relationship between Bastian and Anne again. Especially the visit to her parents, where especially Pastewka's stomach and ears are affected, is one of the highlights of the season. But especially the last episode steers the relationship, marked by quite a few ups and downs, in a new direction, which makes you want to see a hopefully upcoming sixth season.

With great episodes like "Das Gewitter", "Pastewka" once again proves to be one of the best comedy series German television has to offer at the moment. Maybe not necessarily suitable as a starter, but who liked the first seasons, which should also put this set absolutely in the shelf!

Picture + Sound:
On the DVD, the series presents itself in very good TV quality. The picture is clean and pleasantly sharp, the color scheme is coherent and the contrasts are also okay. The sound holds back in accordance with the genre rather and is dominated primarily by the funny dialogues. Good!

Extras: On the bonus DVD there are more than two hours of really great bonus material to discover. It starts with no less than 23 minutes of partly very amusing outtakes. This is followed by a 28-minute making of, which provides a nice, interesting and extremely entertaining insight into the day-to-day filming and also shows, for example, that even in a comedy series like this special effects are used - clearly visible, for example, in the episode "The Apology" or at the comedy award ceremony in "The Laudatio". In addition, there is a walk through "Lindenstrasse" with Pastewka and Michael Kessler. A very nice documentary, which is an absolute must, especially for fans of the series.

The episode "Der Piepser", in which Bastian and his beloved pay a visit to Anne's parents, as well as the guest appearance of Bernd, das Brot, receive their own, almost 20-minute making ofs each. Pastewka's homage to 1. FC Köln (approx. 2 min.) is of course also included in full length. Who would like to check his Pastewka knowledge, which can do this then in the big fan quiz.

Continue with "Pastewka Live", an event of the Gernseh-Club for the start of the 4th season. A few episodes were screened to a large audience, the evening was hosted by Pastewka himself and his movie brother, but other participants also take to the stage during the course of this 15-minute montage.

But that's not all: the episode of the fake sitcom "Alle gegen Ed" can be seen in its entirety, as can a somewhat older visit by Ottmar Zittlau to the hardware store (approx. 8 min.). Pastewka's appearance on TV Total in December 2010 (approx. 8 min.), the complete first episode of the 6th "Ladykracher" season, as well as three trailers for Bastian Pastewka's Christmas DVDs with Anke Engelke, as well as for "Zwei Weihnachtsmänner" round off the great bonus package.

Conclusion: "Pastewka" offers again in the 5th season self-deprecating, biting humor at its best. Torn between guffawing laughter and extreme Fremdschämen the viewer hardly manages to take a break between the ten episodes. In addition to the ten new episodes, the DVD set of season 5 also has a jam-packed bonus disc with really good extras, making this 3-disc set a real must-have for all fans! Absolutely recommended!
