(T)Spaceship Surprise - Period 1

Amazon Link : (T)Spaceship Surprise - Period 1
Movie: The year is 2304, and 250 years ago humans colonized Mars. But what was once hailed as a great triumph for mankind now becomes a serious threat, as the descendants of the first settlers return to Earth with one goal in mind: to conquer the planet and destroy the entire population. But although the situation seems hopeless, Queen Metapha (Anja Kling) advises calm, because there is still a way to avert the impending disaster: a time travel. And so it is decided to send the crew of the (T)spaceship Surprise on this daring mission to prevent the colonization of Mars in the past. But Captain Kork (Christian Tramitz), Mr. Smock (Michael Bully Herbig) and Schrotty (Rick Kavanian) actually have completely different plans, they are just preparing for the big "Miss Waikiki election". So a trip back in time is very inconvenient for them. But against the orders of Queen Metapha there is no resistance, and so the three in the space taxi of the cool space pilot Rock (Til Schweiger) on the way to save the earth. Of course, from now on everything that can go wrong does, and so the crew on their time travel ends up not in the year 2054, but in the Middle Ages. Is humanity doomed now? Over 12 million viewers were amused at the cinema by Michael Bully Herbig's last film "The Shoe of Manit". So it's no wonder that Herbig and co. did everything they could not to disappoint their huge fan base. In the "Bullyparade" they let the audience decide which film should be made next. "Sissi - Menopause of an Empress" or a second "Manitu" didn't stand a chance against the crew of (T)Raumschiff Surprise, which is now finally coming to our home cinemas with its first adventure. Bully's new film definitely lives up to fan expectations. Some of the gags are already known from the "Bullyparade", but numerous tongue-in-cheek references to countless genre films like "Terminator", "The Fifth Element" or of course "Star Wars" ensure that there is plenty to laugh about besides the somewhat overused "funny jokes". And you may not believe it, but the "plot" is actually good for a surprise or two as well. Neben Bully Herbig, Christian Tramitz and Rick Kavanian, it is especially Til Schweiger and again Sky Dumont, who show themselves here from a really funny side. Schweiger plays the space taxi driver Rock wonderfully self-deprecating and gives himself up for the biggest silliness without noticeable fear of contact. Sky Dumont gets to play so deliciously bored this time after his delightfully cool and nasty role in "The Shoe of Manit" that it's a sheer delight. Another bright spot is the brief appearance of "Ladykracher" comedian Christoph Maria Herbst. Simply wonderful. Little plot, good and not-so-good gags, an acting ensemble that obviously had a lot of fun filming, and some small but very nice surprises make a visit to the "(T)Spaceship Surprise" well worth seeing. However, countless commercials, music videos and TV specials quickly threaten Bully overkill. So it may well be that some viewers things like "Mopspeed" or the tuntige "Jaaa" soon can no longer hear. A little less would definitely have been more here. (Even if the cheese cream sold at the movie's release by a well-known fast food chain was really tasty!) Another tip: be sure to wait for the credits and don't turn off the DVD right away. For one thing, you get to see some funny outtakes during the credits, and for another, there's an amusing epilogue after the credits that you shouldn't miss. Not quite as good as "Manitu", but still mostly very amusing, if a bit silly in places, entertainment that was directed with a lot of love for cinema. Ultimately, however, in this film the opinions of critics are little in demand and absolutely meaningless, which more than 9 million moviegoers have impressively proven. Therefore, even on DVD: turn off your brain and just enjoy yourself!!! Picture: The picture quality of the DVD is really absolutely successful. Sharpness, contrast and mixing of colors are absolutely on point! There is no smudging or picture noise whatsoever and thus actually no reason to complain! Very good! Sound: Even during the space scenes in the first third of the film, the home surround sound system comes into its own perfectly. But also otherwise the sound pleases by a pleasant spatiality and dynamics and therefore also receives a deserved "very good"! Extras: The extras on this beautiful double DVD all have a high entertainment value, which guarantees the pleasure of the DVD even after the film ends. Things kick off on the first disc with a very amusing and informative audio commentary by Bully and Rick Kavanian. As with "Manitu", the commentary makes it clear how much fun Michael Herbig had working on this film and how much heart and soul went into this work. Due to the sometimes rather flat jokes, one really only realizes this when listening to the audio commentary (or watching the making of). Furthermore, the viewer has the option of listening to the film with just the isolated soundtrack or turning on the so-called "Super Surprise Mode". This provides information about the filming, biographies and other interesting facts in the form of text panels and also offers the possibility of calling up short clips at certain points with footage of the rehearsals, the filming, the location scouting or in the make-up. At times there is overlap here with the bonus program of the second DVD, but especially some of the clips are really worth watching. On the second disc there is then a nice making of, which is even quite extensive at 43:45 minutes. The only downer here is that this special has already run several times on ProSieben and therefore offers nothing new, nor is it completely commercial-free. Continues with very amusing outtakes (08:55), where there is again overlap with the outtakes in the credits of the film. The three short cut scenes (02:22) are hardly worth mentioning. More interesting are the featurettes on visual effects (06:22), the alien H2O2 (04:45), Stefan Raab's songs (13:11), and the film's score (02:22). These featurettes are not only informative, but also very entertaining. Things get interactive at the "Sound Mix" point, where you can watch a scene with the various isolated elements of the final sound mix. A short slide show on "Time Travel" rounds out the featurettes section. The music video for "Space Taxi" (03:32) is followed by several TV appearances by Bully. Behind "Premiere-Special" is his appearance on "Anke Late Night" (13:36) and under "TV-Appearances" are a visit to "Wetten, dass.?" (12:13) and MTV Select (18:23). Biographies of the actors, the trailer, teasers and various TV spots for the film round out the overall very nice bonus material skillfully. Conclusion: With over 9 million moviegoers, this DVD should actually sell itself. Nevertheless, Michael "Bully" Herbig has given himself with the conversion quite effort. Technically the DVD is absolutely successful and also the extras offer a lot of fun! Who liked the film in the cinema, can access here so reassured!
