Winnie the Pooh is back! Thirty-five years after his last big screen adventure, the lovable bear with little brains but all the more hungry for honey returns to the big screen along with the other residents of the Hundred Acre Wood. And another great adventure awaits Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, Kanga, Little Ruh and Owl. Eeyore has lost his tail and needs to be replaced. Pooh hopes for help from Christopher Robin - but unfortunately he has disappeared. A note that the friends find in the boy's house makes them fear the worst: Christopher Robin has been kidnapped and now it's up to Pooh and his more or less brave companions to rescue him. But it's not just the ever-increasing hunger that presents the bear with enormous challenges.

Winnie the Pooh's new cinematic adventure is a magical animated film that seems like a very welcome change amidst the countless (3D) computer animated works of the past few months. At the same time, the film proves that it is possible to tell timeless, endearing stories with simple means, which not only, but especially children will enjoy. The original integration of the text from the literary model by A. A. Milne into the film, as well as the charmingly designed end credits are just two of the many things that make this animated fairy tale so worth seeing.

Both the main film, as well as the introductory short film with the legendary Loch Ness monster are of course primarily aimed at a very young target audience. And indeed, Winnie the Pooh is perfect for introducing young children to the experience of going to the movies. With a running time of just over an hour, the film is not too long, there are no particularly loud or scary scenes, and the humor is also kept harmless in a way that is appropriate for children. The drawing style is closely based on those of the old adventures of Winnie and his friends, but never seems old-fashioned, just timelessly beautiful.

Without a lot of hustle and bustle and filled with loving ideas, a very simple yet important message about friendship and how to deal with each other in everyday life is conveyed to children here. It's charming, entertaining, endearing, and funny as hell - which is exactly why it's absolutely recommended for all little ones and the young at heart!
