Arias and duets from works by Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, Verdi and Puccini
.Italy is commonly referred to as the motherland of opera, which of course makes it the home of 'bel canto', 'beautiful singing'. Probably in no other country in the world do opera lovers encounter such a wealth of beautiful melodies associated with so many famous names. The music of Gioacchino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Vincenzo Bellini, Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini represents the Italian way of life with all its emotions and thus continues to exert great fascination on listeners. The Belcanto Opera Gala pays tribute to Italy's great composers and presents the most beautiful arias and duets from their most famous operas.
Russian soprano Olga Romanko has performed at major opera houses under conductors such as Zubin Mehta, and has also appeared at the Arena di Verona as Desdemona in Verdi's 'Otello' alongside Placido Domingo. One can also look forward to the wonderful bel canto voice of the young soprano Mirella Bunoaica, who has celebrated great success in the role of Gilda in Verdi's 'Rigoletto' at the Stuttgart State Opera, among others. In addition, the sought-after tenor James Lee could be engaged, who, in addition to numerous international engagements, recently appeared on stage in the role of Radamès in Verdi's &<#039;Aida' at the Theater Dortmund.
The orchestra engaged is the nationally renowned Rhein-Main-Philharmoniker from Frankfurt. The musicians are recruited from the leading orchestras of the Rhine-Main region, including the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra, the hr Symphony Orchestra and the orchestras of the Wiesbaden and Darmstadt State Theatres. Since 2017, the Rhein-Main Philharmonic has also formed the core of the festival orchestra 'Philharmonie Festiva', whose numerous Bruckner recordings have received international attention and acclaim.
