Coca-Cola is once again sending its Christmas trucks across Germany this year, with Frankfurt being the first major stop on the truck tour.

After several stops at railway stations in cooperation with DB Cargo, the classic stops will begin on 9 December. The first stop takes the Christmas truck to Frankfurt, more precisely: to the DFB campus.

In addition to having their photo taken with Father Christmas, guests can design personalised Coca-Cola bottles or simply experience the illuminated trucks. Coca-Cola combines entertaining activities with a touch of nostalgia.

The fascination of the Coca-Cola Christmas trucks

For many, the bright red Coca-Cola Christmas trucks are now an integral part of the Advent season. They originated in 1995: For an elaborately produced commercial, the agency W.B. Doner, together with the effects specialists from Industrial Light and Magic, developed several specially built trucks decorated with thousands of lights. The impressive images quickly spread around the world. At the end of the 1990s, the idea began to gain momentum outside of television. The trucks subsequently toured numerous countries, including Germany, the USA and Australia. Millions of people attended the events – always with the aim of creating a special experience and a sense of community during the often hectic Christmas season. N

More tour stops and new public voting

After Frankfurt, Eisenach, Straubing, Osnabrück, Bochum, Nürburg and Hagen are on the programme. In addition, Coca-Cola is letting the public vote on two additional stops for the first time this year. Ten cities are up for selection until 30 November. The company is raffling off an overnight stay in the original Christmas truck among all participants.

Digital campaigns complement the offer

The tour will be accompanied by competitions in the Coca-Cola app. Using QR codes on bottles and cans, users can win prizes including a trip to Swedish Lapland. Other prizes are designed to make the Advent season a little more relaxing.

Due to its central location and the expected crowds, the stop at the DFB campus is likely to be one of the most popular dates on this year's tour.
