For more than three decades, Frankfurt's Christopher Street Day (CSD) has been celebrated every year in July. The mega event for lesbians and gays is an exciting mix of party, political demonstration and colorful show program. Everyone is invited to join in the celebrations and over 100,000 visitors take part in CSD every year.
The global festival commemorates the first known uprising by homosexuals against police brutality on Christopher Street in New York on 28 June 1969. The highlight of the CSD is the approximately two-and-a-half-hour demonstration parade through Frankfurt city center on Saturday (10.08.) from 12 noon, during which all participants celebrate their lifestyle with confidence and exuberance. All information about the demonstration can be found HERE
The cheerful and colorful procession begins on the Römerberg, which will be flagged with rainbow flags, and ends at the Konstablerwache.
During the weekend, there will also be a large stage and party program with live acts, political talk, djane* sets and glittering, colourful moments. You can find the entire stage program HERE
In addition, gay and lesbian associations and initiatives will be providing information about their activities at the Bazaar of Diversity.
When the celebration ends, the party is far from over. Because in many Frankfurt bars and clubs (e.g. Orange Peel, Nachtleben, Karlson or Yachtclub) the party continues into the early hours of the morning.
