The Christmas market in Darmstadt city centre will be open from 17 November to 23 December 2025.
Culinary and craft offerings invite visitors to linger and enjoy themselves. The city centre, decorated for Christmas with Christmas trees on the market square, Luisenplatz and Ludwigsplatz, creates a festive atmosphere.
A special highlight are the stands of Darmstadt's twin towns. Whether Hungarian lángos or wine and cheese from Saanen (Switzerland) – the offerings are appreciated by locals and visitors alike. The Darmstadt Christmas lights impress with the "Langer Ludwig", which shines with 30,000 LEDs. The Christmas tree on the market square offers an hourly light show starting at 6 p.m., and a historic horse carousel attracts visitors to Friedensplatz. Opening of the Christmas market with Mayor Hanno Benz, the Darmstadt Showmen's Association and the Mulled Wine Princess.
Musical entertainment by the children's choir "Chornflakes" from Wixhausen and the saxophone quintet "Darmstädter Blecho".

Visit from St. Nicholas
Friday, 6 December, from 4 p.m.
St. Nicholas will be travelling through the city centre in his carriage with the Children's Punch Princess and visiting the Christmas market. Together they will hand out chocolate Santa Clauses and enjoy a little song or poem. Closing evening 23 December, 7 to 9 p.m. Christmas market stage on the market square: Trio RELOUNGE: Marcel Zocher (vocals), Thomas Markowic (piano) and Thorsten Großkopf (guitar) will provide fun and good cheer.
