Heiner and Heinerin cheer happily. On the last weekend in June, it's that time again: every year, several hundred thousand visitors from near and far follow the call to "Come one, come all!" to enjoy the cheerful hustle and bustle in the city center around the castle. More than 200 showmen travel from all over Germany and 150 free cultural events are offered to visitors.
While the big Heiners enjoy themselves in the popular HeinerTreff on the east side of the castle moat, the little Heiners can play to their hearts' content in the western part at the nostalgic Heinerfest children's festival. Street theater and film screenings are just as much a part of the diverse Heinerfest cultural program as a wide range of sports.
The grand finale of Darmstadt's popular Heinerfest is also the 67th Heinerfest. Heinerfest is the big Merck fireworks display on Monday evening from the roof of the darmstadtium.
Five happy days in the heart of the city, with lots of new attractions and locations!
