"Heiner and Heinerin cheer happily. On the first weekend in July, it's that time again: every year, several hundred thousand visitors from near and far follow the call to "Come one, come all!" to enjoy the cheerful hustle and bustle in the city center around the castle. An attractive Heinerfest ticket also brings people from the surrounding area quickly and cheaply to the festival grounds, where carousels and culinary delights from all over the world beckon.
Wine lovers will be delighted: for the first time, there is an idyllic wine garden on the old city wall in addition to the popular wine village on the castle bastion. The Festhalle Hausmann on Karolinenplatz, on the other hand, has a large beer garden for thirsty Heiner fans.
More than 200 carnies will be coming from all over Germany, including many spectacular new rides such as "Konga" and "Ghost Rider".
Five cheerful days in the heart of the city, with many new attractions and locations: "The heart of the Heinerfest beats once again on Friedensplatz, where Darmstadt's twin towns will treat visitors to their specialties at the popular AlleWeltTreff", promises festival president Dr. Hans-Joachim Klein. The Ponyhof makes a guest appearance at the Jugendstilbad, and the Piazza will be at the Heinerfest with well-known DJs and live acts. In the town church, the famous musical FAME will cause a sensation on four Heinerfest days.
While the big Heiners have fun in the popular HeinerTreff on the east side of the Schlossgraben, the little Heiners can play to their hearts' content in the newly designed western section at the nostalgic Heinerfest children's festival.
On Georg-Büchner-Platz, the orchestra of the State Theater invites you to an open-air concert under the motto "Heinerklassisch", and in the Karolinensaal in the State Archive, young musical talents enchant their listeners. Music can be heard all over the city: Bands from Darmstadt, the region and the twin cities as well as international dancers present a rousing music program on nine live stages.
"Our Heinerfest thrives on voluntary commitment and partnerships with institutions and companies that are part of Darmstadt's identity as a city of science.And everyone is welcome at the150 free events.
One focus this year is dialect, with the Spirwes Prize for Maulkunst und Lebensart being awarded for the first time on the Sunday before the festival. The Heinerfest President announces: "A wide range of events where Hessian dialect is spoken can be visited during the Heinerfest."
But that's not all: In the darmstadtium, THE expert Paolo Ferri (ESA/ESOC) will be giving an exclusive presentation of the "life's work" of the comet hunter Rosetta. The illuminated Herrngarten invites you to concerts and a large dance festival every evening, and Circus Waldoni will be performing imaginative artistry on Luisenplatz.
Street theater and film screenings are just as much a part of the diverse Heinerfest cultural program as a wide range of sports activities.
The grand finale of Darmstadt's popular Heinerfest is also the 66th edition. Heinerfest is the big Merck fireworks display on Monday evening from the roof of the darmstadtium."
