Fairground at the Ratsweg
Event dates:
Where:
Festplatz am Ratsweg
60385 Frankfurt am Main

Twice a year, the fairground on Ratsweg hosts a very special traditional fair whose origins date back to the 12th century: Frankfurt's Dippemess. Originally conceived as a trade fair, the focus was shifted to amusement in the middle of the 19th century. Since then, the Frankfurt Dippemess has been one of the most popular public festivals in and around Hesse, attracting several hundred thousand visitors every year. In addition to many culinary stalls, which of course also offer specialities from Frankfurt, there are always the latest and craziest rides to marvel at at the Dippemess. But of course, the tradition, the "Dippemarkt" (pottery market) has only shrunk and not completely disappeared and numerous stands still offer numerous "Dippche". In autumn, the focus of the Dippemess is traditionally on the quieter, family-oriented rides. But even those looking for an adrenaline kick will definitely get their money's worth with the rich selection offered by the 117 merchants and showmen.

For those who aren't necessarily fans of roller coasters and bumper cars and the loud music, the big fireworks display on Monday, Sept. 15, at 10 p.m. is especially recommended, as it is traditionally a feast for the eyes. Other highlights are the Family Thursday and of course the gastronomic stands and summer gardens.

Visitors who come by car will quickly miss the fun, because parking spaces are from experience in short supply. Therefore it is absolutely advisable to come by public transport, then the Dippemess makes all the more fun.
