Discovery Art Fair – Frankfurt's stage for contemporary art
From 7 to 9 November, the Messe Frankfurt (Hall 1) will once again be transformed into a forum for international contemporary art. Around 110 exhibitors from 20 countries will be showing paintings, sculptures, photographs and object art – by greats such as Markus Lüpertz, Georg Baselitz and Tony Cragg to exciting new discoveries from urban art and digital formats.
The Discovery Art Fair sees itself less as a pure sales fair and more as a place of encounter. In the gallery booths, conversations arise between artists, collectors and visitors who understand art as dialogue.
Special attention is given to the "Discover a Talent" initiative, which offers five up-and-coming artists free presentation space. A jury headed by Silke Hohmann, Bernd Kracke, Gérard Goodrow and Barbara von Stechow selected Ahn Ha Jung, Erlend Mikael Sæverud, Julia Sossinka, Kim Yunyoung and Matthias Jun Wilhelm.
A first is the Silent Auction, where interested parties can bid on selected works behind closed doors – a playful experiment with the art market.
The art:lab of the saasfee*pavillon, which creates a space for experimental formats with works by young media and sound artists.
The programme is rounded off by free curator tours and a free admission Friday, which invites visitors to discover and marvel.
