Showmatrix GmbH from Hesse will stage an impressive light show over the Rhine with 200 illuminated drones.

The drones fly in artistic formations – accompanied by specially coordinated music. Each sequence tells a story. A special highlight is a tribute to Johannes Gutenberg, Mainz 05 and the city of Mainz.

Why drones instead of traditional fireworks?

The city of Mainz is setting an example for animal welfare, air quality and waste prevention. The move away from fireworks is in line with a changing zeitgeist. The Rhineland-Palatinate Animal Welfare Association expressly welcomes this change. The reduced noise and particulate pollution and the lower fire risk are also arguments in favour of the new format.

Weather dependency: In the event of heavy rain or wind, the show may be cancelled or postponed at short notice.

Best view: The riverbank between Theodor-Heuss-Brücke and Kurfürstliches Schloss.
