Directions and parking:
By car: Follow the city center ring road and the signs "Stadtmitte-Marktplatz". Parking is available in the Marktplatz underground parking garage and a few minutes' walk away in the Kinopolis, Kinopolis 2, Nürnberger Straße or FORUM Hanau parking garages.
For bus companies: Bus parking spaces are available in Heinrich-Bott-Straße, Hafenstraße and at the parking areas Kinzigheimer Weg/Westerburgstraße and Hochstädter Landstraße. Entry and exit points are located on Freiheitsplatz, east side, near the tax office.
Public transport: Accessible by bus lines 1, 2, 5, 6, 10 and 12 of Hanauer Straßenbahn GmbH, stop Marktplatz.
In addition, the city of Hanau, together with Sparkasse Hanau, offers free WiFi on the market square for 60 minutes daily.
Experiences at the Hanau Christmas market
Around 60 wooden houses decorated for Christmas, Hesse's largest Advent calendar, atmospheric live music, a children's carousel and a mini Ferris wheel as well as numerous treats and attractive stalls invite you to stroll and linger.
A particular highlight is the two-storey carousel from the Molitor company. With a height of 14 meters, a diameter of 11 meters and seating for 60, it attracts visitors in nostalgic style and complements the mini Ferris wheel as a visual eye-catcher. Culinary delights range from traditional delicacies such as Christmas stollen, Baumkuchen, roasted almonds, grilled sausages and potato pancakes to souvenirs, jewelry, winter fashion and handmade decorative objects.
New this year are "Herbert's Meisterstück" with Hessian tapas by Kai Herbert and a vegan dumpling stand by Claudia Exenberger. Also new is Frank Barget's snack bar, known from the Hanau weekly market. After a three-year break, the Perlkönig GmbH jewelry stand returns.
Stage program and social activities
There are daily performances by music clubs, schools and choirs from Hanau and the region on the Christmas market stage.
The large nativity scene with wooden figures of the Holy Family in front of the town hall will delight young visitors in particular.
The "Together for Hanau" charity hut, run by 15 service clubs, serves soups, glögg and non-alcoholic mulled juice. The proceeds go towards social projects.
In addition, charitable organizations can sell their home-made goods such as waffles, jams, mulled wine and knitted socks in two huts provided. Around 30 organizations, including Lebenshilfe, the senior citizens' office, the city mission and many more, enrich the offer with gift ideas and information stands.
