The Lantern Festival was initiated in 1931 by the Frankfurt Allotment Gardeners' Association and developed into a city-wide event. As part of "100 Years of New Frankfurt", this tradition is now being revived – with different neighbourhoods taking part each year until 2030.

Paulsplatz will be transformed into an atmospheric sea of lights to mark the start of the new lantern festival series. May Festival of the Ernst May Society
Main event: Hellerhofsiedlung, Gallus
Illumination with lanterns, candles and fairy lights
Music, dancing and games in the afternoon
- Torchlight processions and communal singing in the evening
- Festively decorated gardens, balconies and windows
Grand fireworks display at the end (only in the Hellerhof settlement)
