For the twelfth time, circus director Carl Busch invites visitors to Frankfurt during Advent: from 13 December 2025 to 11 January 2026, the Great Christmas Circus will be performing at the Ratsweg fairground. According to the organisers, the programme promises a "world-class show that will thrill, overwhelm and delight".
Once again, the focus this year will be on the clown Henry Ayala. The Venezuelan, who won the Silver Clown at the Monte Carlo Circus Festival in 2021, is considered a crowd favourite. Due to pandemic-related restrictions, only a small portion of the audience was able to experience him four years ago. Now the "Prince of Clowns" is back – with slapstick interludes such as his famous spaghetti fight, as well as daring stunts at dizzying heights, which he performs together with the Ayala troupe on the high wire. Alongside Ayala, numerous other artists will be performing: A wheel of death performance from Chile, the Circus Theatre Bingo, trapeze artist Alexander Lichner and the Polishchuk strapaten duo are all part of the programme. The show is accompanied by an eight-piece orchestra and a singer. Modern lighting technology and new staging ideas are intended to add extra glamour to this traditional form of entertainment.
The Great Christmas Circus tent can seat 2,000 spectators. All seats are numbered and can be selected online. Tickets are available from 15 euros, including from Frankfurt Ticket RheinMain and Eventim.
