The master of film music back on concert tour in Europe
When Oscar winner Hans Zimmer went on concert tour for the first time this spring, the arenas in the major European cities were completely sold out. It was an adventure for the global star to step out from the depths of his studio to perform live in front of his fans with his music, band, orchestra and choir, which he now continues. Next year Hans Zimmer will also perform for the first time in his adopted country, the USA, as well as in Australia and New Zealand. And Hollywood's most sought-after film music composer will also return to Europe for selected concerts, two of them in Germany.
On May 24, 2017, the world star will make a guest appearance at the Arena Leipzig with his band, choir, orchestra, soloists and his major global hits from "Pirates of the Caribbean," "The Dark Knight," "Rain Man," "Gladiator," "The Da Vinci Code," "Inception," "The Lion King" and many other films. Then, on June 9, 2017, Hans Zimmer will play in a stadium for the first time, the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt. Hans Zimmer was born in Frankfurt and celebrates a special round birthday in 2017. Reason enough for the organizers Dieter Semmelmann and Harvey Goldsmith to come up with a unique concert, where 30,000 fans and some world stars are expected as special guests.
Hans Zimmer completed his first live tour at the beginning of 2016, it took him to 33 cities in twelve European countries. He kicked off his European tour with two sold-out concerts at London's Wembley Arena, which took him to Paris, Berlin, Munich, Prague, Geneva, Dublin and Vienna, among other cities. Thanks to the huge success and the effervescent criticism that his live program triggered among fans and the press, Scandinavia will also be able to enjoy his self-performed music for the first time in 2017. "Hans Zimmer Live On Tour 2017" will begin on the US West Coast, continue in Australia and New Zealand, before Zimmer returns to Europe to follow up with an extensive live tour of his adopted home in the US as well.
The "Hans Zimmer Live On Tour" concerts consist of two parts: in the first part, Zimmer presents his classic film scores from "Gladiator", "The Lion King" or "Pirates of the Caribbean", among others; in the second part, the audience experiences versions from "The Dark Knight" trilogy and "Inception" newly arranged for the concert stage. Here, the composer does not conduct his orchestra, but plays the piano, banjo or guitar himself, moderates and leads through his musical selections with anecdotes.
"Playing a concert series like this is something I've always wanted to do, and I'm excited to start my second tour on the West Coast of America, visit Australia and also return to Europe, where we had so much fun this summer," says Hans Zimmer. "I am very excited to gather some of my very talented, musical friends and give our audience an experience that will be quite unlike any concert they have ever attended before."
Hans Zimmer and his musicians can be seen in Germany on May 24, 2017 at Arena Leipzig and June 9, 2017 at Commerzbank-Arena Frankfurt.
