The weekly market in Idstein already has a very special flair. But at the Christmas market, the beautiful old town of Idstein becomes an incomparably enchanting "Markt der Lichter" for three days. The visitors bumble here before the festively illuminated, romantic half-timbered scenery. The smell of mulled wine, Christmas cookies and other delicacies is in the air and underlines the Christmas atmosphere. Quiet contemplation is on the agenda here.
Thousands of small lights will transform the Christmas market into a "Lichtermarkt" and immerse the Idstein city center in a romantic Christmas ambience. In the historic old town, lovingly decorated wooden huts invite you to linger and browse. In addition to delicacies you will certainly find one or the other gift, with which you can make your loved ones a joy for the holidays.
In the town hall you can visit on Saturday and Sunday a model railway exhibition and marvel at the Living Nativity in the underpass of the town hall. There, Mary, Joseph, King, Shepherd and Angel await you, who, together with real donkeys, sheep and goats, offer not only the little visitors a Christmas story to touch.
