With his debut album "Alle guten Dinge" (Universal) Jonas Monar lets a fresh breeze blow through the German pop landscape. Born in a small village near Wetzlar, he grew up in a highly musical family. With his school band he toured the whole country in a fully loaded VW bus, opening for Silbermond and Sunrise Avenue, among others. His bandmates dropped out, Jonas moved on.
Football or music? That was the question teenage Jonas Monar asked himself. He was a really good right winger and flirted with a professional career. In the end, music won out. "I come from a very musical family, had piano lessons from the age of six and started writing songs when I was eleven," he recounts. Later, the multi-instrumentalist started his school band, played many small and some big gigs, including opening for Silbermond and Sunrise Avenue. At some point, his bandmates got fed up, Jonas wanted to move on and moved from Hesse to Berlin. His abilities, both as a singer and as a songwriter, also caused enthusiasm among producer Tom Deininger (Klee). Deininger took him under his wing. Jonas worked day and night in the Tempelhof Bauteil3 studios. In no time at all, over twenty songs were created. "I make my own music, write my own lyrics, play my own guitar and piano and stay with myself. I make music because I simply have to make music. It kind of has to come out of me! I think the listener feels this natural process sooner or later", Monar says self-confidently. Even Nena could not escape the charm of Jonas Monar and engaged the new-Berliner for the opening act of her tour 2018.
As a harbinger of his album, the mid-twenties had released the single "Playlist". Shortly after, he released his album "All Good Things," which reached a respectable chart position of 57. "The most exhausting and the worst and at the same time the most beautiful thing is writing lyrics. That's the hardest job! But when melodies come along and you feel the whole package is standing roughly, it's always a special moment. A bit sexy! Once one song was pretty much done, I was always on to the next one. And so on," Monar revealed to the Berliner Zeitung. So it's no surprise to hear that Jonas is already working on songs for his second album.
