"What if everything goes well"? Laith Al-Deen asked the question with the title track of his latest album two years ago. The answer: it had more than gone well. His eighth album catapulted straight to second place in the album charts! So the likeable musician could have made himself quite comfortable now, on the million sold sound carriers, the golden records, the Echo nominations and numerous single hits. But that's not his thing, this longing for laurels. He is driven by a thousand things, which he expresses more consistently than ever in 2016 and uncompromisingly reveals. Laith Al-Deen makes peace with change and decides for: "Bleib unterwegs" - album number 9, which will be released on July 15. "I've realized again that being on the road is the artist's bread and butter, that's why I've decided to be on the road a lot more again. Already two years ago I started the "live acoustic" tour, which is not a tour in the real sense, but a never-ending concert tour." The title of the new album underlines this decision, emphasizing with "Stay on the road" the aspect that Laith believes is not a phase, but an attitude. The liberation from the daily grind that so many people are struggling with, and which the legendary Phoenix also stands for as the new signet in the artwork, can be a tough process, which "Bleib unterwegs" accompanies with a lot of understanding but at the same time plenty of convincing propulsion. There are true stories that are processed on his new album. Stories that Laith not only asked proven and new co-writers for, but also his fans via Facebook. The call was followed by an echo, which was extremely moving in its openness and has led to the fact that from the intended one song now in almost all songs are experiences from it. Like in "Secret", the first single (release date: May 20), which takes us directly into the interior of the record. The song describes an encounter that questions everything and at the same time has an overriding significance: "We live in a supposedly open world, but we have to realize that there are still big deficits: whether intercultural, interreligious or what concerns homosexual love, for example. This leads to secrets that one is confronted with within oneself, because something feels right that is considered wrong. Here it comes in black and white: no one is alone in this." With cautious strings, unrelenting electric guitars, and a groove that steers unconcernedly toward its destination, "Secret" is a single like the best friend you can finally trust with everything. With "Bleib unterwegs," Laith Al-Deen has made an album that is full of drive while exuding unexpected calm. An album made up of hundreds of stories, yet unflinchingly personal.
