"Mainz shines - The Late Light Festival" is the event highlight in Mainz.
From September 26 to 28, 2024, Mainz city center will shine in an extraordinary glow. A series of buildings, from the Rheingoldhalle to Schillerplatz, will be illuminated and staged in an artistic way. Various light installations and video projections, also known as "Mappings", will illuminate outstanding buildings such as St. Martin's Cathedral, the Rheingoldhalle, the Mainz State Theatre, the mainz STORE on the market square, the Deutsche Bank building in the former Karstadt area and the Osteiner Hof on Schillerplatz in a completely new light. Different stories are told on the facades of these buildings in impressive visual representations, accompanied by emotional music. The video projections were designed by the "Time-based Media" course at Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
Visitors to "Mainz leuchtet - Das Late Light Festival" can also look forward to a varied supporting program in the city centre, which will be organized by local businesses from the gastronomy, retail and culture sectors. Access to this new event highlight is free of charge, and the organizers, mainzplus CITYMARKETING and the state capital of Mainz, invite numerous visitors to enjoy both the video projections and the offers of the city centre players.
