Darmstadt's city centre will once again become a unique festival backdrop and venue for Hesse's biggest music festival on the bank holiday weekend at the end of May, from 25.5.-28.5.2017: the Schlossgrabenfest. More approx. 400,000 visitors are expected again. In addition to this year's top acts MAX GIESINGER, WINCENT WEISS, GLASPERLENSPIEL, OK KID and MÄDNESS & DÖLL, the 19th Schlossgrabenfest will also focus on musical diversity during the four-day program. A mix of well-known stars and newcomer bands. Presented by HR3, RTL HESSEN, DARMSTÄDTER ECHO, FRIZZ, MERCK, ENTEGA, DARMSTÄDTER PRIVATBAUEREI. On the over 20.000 m² comprehensive festival area, this year new also on the market square, the four live stages MERCK-, ECHO-, SPARKASSEN- and FRIZZ-stage, offer space for exactly 114 bands and artists of almost all music styles from rock, pop, alternative, cover, world music, singer/songwriter, hip-hop to poetry slam. Among them are newcomer acts as well as established, Germany-wide successful bands. 10 DJs will play the best club sounds in the ENTEGA club area in front of the Hessisches Landesmuseum. Culinary specialities from all over the world will be offered at more than 160 points of sale. Thus the Schlossgrabenfest with its 114 bands and more than 10 DJs stands for a festival of the senses for all generations, cultures and nations also in the 19th edition. All this, of course, with free admission. With the European Music Award winner MAX GIESINGER "80 Million", the newcomer star WINCENT WEISS "Being Music", the permanent charters of GLASPERLENSPIEL "Geiles Leben", the festival stars OK KID as well as the Darmstadt rap brothers MÄDNESS &. DÖLL, the organizers present well-known names of the music scene, which are representative of the consistently colorful, varied musical style mix of the festival and once again underline the objective to unite the entire musical spectrum in the heart of Darmstadt. With KAYEF, DANJU, POHLMANN, STAUBKIND, RAZZ, JONAS MONAR, JULIAN PHILIPP DAVID, CRIS COSMO and BOPPIN'B the line up this year is already more than prominently occupied especially in the "second row". The current MTV European Music Award winner and chart topper Max Giesinger will be rocking the Merck stage with his hits "80 Million" and "Wenn Sie Tanzt" right at the start of the four-day music marathon on Thursday, May 25. On Friday, 26.5. the stage belongs to the festival stars of OK KID "Gute Menschen", who have made it to success without mainstream. The established German singer-songwriter POHLMANN, will also be on the MERCK stage on Fridays 26.5. Stuttgart rapper DANJU, friend and rap partner of Cro, celebrates with his fans on the ECHO stage on Fridays 26.5. The electro-pop stars Glasperlenspiel will enchant the Merck stage on Saturday, 27.5., naturally with all their big hits, such as "Geiles Leben" or "Echt" and in a complete live band line-up. The Darmstadt rap brothers Mädness & Döll, who catapulted to No. 1 in the German hip-hop charts in the spring of this year with their current album "Ich und mein Bruder" (I and my brother), guarantee a big home game party on the ECHO stage on Saturday. YouTube star and "German Justin Bieber" KAYEF, climbed to No. 4 in the German album charts in 2016 and will perform on Saturday 27.5. before Glasperlenspiel on the MERCK stage. Stylistically, his music can be described as a genre-bending mix of rap, pop ampersand R'n'B. WINCENT WEISS, one of the most successful newcomers of the German pop music scene will be on the MERCK stage for the finale on Sunday, 28.5. and will make a clear closing statement with his mega hits "Musik sein" and "Feuerwerk". His debut album "Irgendwas gegen die Stille" shot straight into the Top 10 of the album charts in April. It certainly won't be quiet at this year's Schlossgrabenfest. Other well-known acts on the programme are: STAUBKIND, RAZZ, JONAS MONAR, JULIAN PHILIPP DAVID, CRIS COSMO, BOPPIN'B and of course local heroes PFUND, SHAQUA SPIRIT, JOHNZ, THE SILVERBALLS, CONCRETE JUNGLE, 8KIDS and THE BARBERS. Top DJs in the ENTEGA club area in front of the Landesmuseum are CLINT STEWART from the USA and HDSN, who recently reached number 1 in the German House Charts. NEW AREA: THE MARKETPLACE The most important innovation: Schlossgrabenfest 2017 will also take place on Darmstadt's market square for the first time, where the FRIZZ stage, which has always been a platform for singer/songwriters and bands of softer, gentler sounds, will get its new location. Many seats, surrounded by culinary stalls, create a new, special atmosphere and meeting place in the heart of the city. The historical backdrop between the castle and the Old Town Hall offers space for conversations and a programme ranging from singer/songwriters, pop covers and poetry slams to the popular gospel service. Deliberately, things are a little quieter and quieter here on the market square. On the SPARKASSEN stage, this year with a new position at the corner of Landgraf-Georg-Strasse, hopeful regional newcomer bands will perform, the MERCK and ECHO stages both again stand for a wide musical variety of rock, pop, cover, hip-hop as well as indie and alternative. In the ENTEGA Club Area in front of the Landesmuseum, hopefully no one will stand still, because it may be danced vigorously under the open sky to the best club sounds. CULINARY FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD In addition to the multitude of bands, the Schlossgrabenfest once again offers a unique gourmet stroll with surprising delicacies from all over the world. There are international, creative specialities at over 160 mobile stalls, inviting and tempting you to a culinary expedition of the palate. CLOSETRAVE FESTIVAL CHILDREN'S TIME AND CHARITY, Even the smallest ones are welcome again: CHILDREN'S TIME at the Castle Moat Festival will once again beckon on Sunday, 5/28 with a great fun and games program to "join in" for free from 11am-3pm with a bouncy castle, roller slide, painting, crafts and more. The children's song singer Oliver Mager is back together with the newspaper monster Kruschel of the Darmstädter Echo. This year, during Schlossgrabenfest KINDERZEIT, children will be allowed to paint wooden guitars for a good cause, for which Darmstadt businesses and private individuals have taken on charity sponsorships in advance. In 2017, the proceeds will go to the Matthäusgemeinde Youth Centre and the Oettinger Villa, which were chosen as recipients by Lord Mayor Jochen Partsch together with Social Welfare Officer Barbara Akdeniz. Since 2012, more than 34,800 euros have already been collected during KINDERZEIT and donated to youth centres and facilities in the city. CFI Internationale Kinderhilfe from Darmstadt-Eberstadt will be represented with an information stand and will present its Children's Villages projects. GOD SERVICE AND FRUIT SHOP The Schlossgrabenfest Sunday traditionally starts with the Schlossgrabenfest Gospel Service at 11am. This year, for the first time, in the Market Square. At the Echo-Stage, which will be specially seated for this purpose, everyone is welcome to join the Frühschoppen from 11am onwards. There's all this and much more to discover this year at Hesse's biggest music festival! Come by and celebrate with us!
