Complexions Contemporary Ballet
the year 2022 is a special year for all David Bowie fans - on January 8, the British pop icon would have turned 75. With Star Dust, the hip New York company Complexions Contemporary Ballet dedicates a passionate dance piece to the genius, which can be experienced for the first time in Frankfurt next week. With the two-part successful program STAR DUST - From Bach to Bowie, directed by the former soloists of the world-famous Alvin Ailey Company Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, it will make its first guest appearance at the Alte Oper from July 12 to 16, 2022. For Desmond Richardson, choreographer and star dancer, it is also a reunion with the Main metropolis: he danced from 1994 to 1997 at the Ballet Frankfurt under William Forsythe.
Explosive and brilliant, passionate and exalted, poetic and enchanting: eleven tracks by Bowie were arranged for the choreography Star Dust. With their characteristic mix of classical, ballet, modern dance and pop culture, the 16 dancers pay homage to the dazzling pop icon. With Bach 25, they demonstrate their technical perfection to masterful compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach and his son Carl Philipp Emanuel.
