The great original production by Arndt Gerber and Paul Wilhelm
The eerily beautiful story about The Phantom of the Opera is one of the classics of world literature. Based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, this grand original production by Arndt Gerber and Paul Wilhelm tells the riveting tale of the Man in the Mask and comes to its 20th anniversary tour in 2018.
Mysterious things are happening at the venerable Opera House in Paris. A cruelly disfigured creature ekes out a lonely and dreary existence in the opera's gloomy catacombs. Misunderstood by the world, only the young singer Christine Daaé is able to soften the heart of the beast. As his "angel of music" he even gives her singing lessons. His devotion and longing for her love lure him out of his subterranean lair. Obsessed with the young beauty and her talent, he tries to further her career by any means necessary. The fiend even doesn't shy away from murder. Soon he has turned the venerable building into a madhouse and terrified the staff. But worse is yet to come...
The announcement of the engagement of Christine and Count Raoul de Chagny again stirs jealousy in the Phantom. During a performance, the auditorium's large chandelier comes crashing down on the unsuspecting patrons. In the ensuing chaos, the Phantom abducts Christine to his realm in the depths. In the underworld of the Paris Opera, he presents her with a cruel choice. Either she spends the rest of her life with him, or her fiancé Raoul will die.
Contemporary costumes and hairstyles, an extensive set, state-of-the-art lighting and sound, and memorable melodies transport the audience back over a century - to the "Temple of Music" in Paris.
International soloists, a large orchestra, graceful ballet dancers and an impressive vocal ensemble make this musical performance a highlight for every age group.
