Every year on the first weekend in August, the small wine-growing community of Wicker, which lies on the very edge of the Rheingau wine-growing region, celebrates its wine festival. For an entire weekend, the winegrowers then attract visitors to the beautiful ambience of the historic town centre. Here, in the winding old alleys, they open their romantic courtyards, their Straußwirtschaften and Gutsschänken wide for visitors. Other winegrowers also entertain the festival visitors at wine stands along the festival streets. Traditionally, the Wickerer wine festival is opened on Friday evening by the host vintners' association with the district administrator, the mayor, the head of the village, the local wine queen and wine princess and the Rheingau wine majesties, accompanied by music from the Flörsheim music association. Afterwards, live music is announced for three days at the festival podium For the physical well-being is also provided at the most different snack stands.
Visitors who come by bike will find parking spaces directly at the festival area, car drivers can park at the Wickerer Berg and at the designated places.
