The City Christmas Market Frankfurt

Frankfurt's highest Christmas magic with a skyline view

It almost doesn't get more atmospheric than this: if you drive up to the fifth parking level in the parking garage at Konstablerwache, you'll quickly discover the stairs lined with fairy lights leading up to the roof in the gray of the parking garage. Even as you climb the steps, you are treated to a magnificent view of the skyline. And once the roof is reached, visitors are immediately greeted by the atmospheric ambience that surrounds Frankfurt's Rooftop Alm. But the real magic doesn't emanate primarily from the alpine hut, which was set up for the first time in 2017 on the area that, as CityBeach, is one of the city's most popular rooftop locations in the summer. It is the lovingly decorated market in front of the CityAlm that radiates a Christmas atmosphere here, which, in combination with the evening skyline, is probably unique throughout Germany.

More than just a great backdrop

It became clear in the first few weeks: The risk that Jasmin Ziegler and her team took was worth it. The CityXmas market has become a popular meeting place. And although there is a great feel-good atmosphere here even when the weather is not quite so great, which attracts numerous visitors, the atmosphere always remains informal.

Some of the highlights of 2017 were:

Tilly`s Aunt

Opening hours:

Normally, Sibylle Rumpf offers her delicious soups and stews from her beautiful food truck, a vintage Renault Estafette, built in 1976. For CityXmas, she has moved to one of the market stalls, which of course does little to change the quality of her soups. The potato soup we tried was not only perfect for chasing away the cold from the inside, but also tasted really good. It was beautifully creamy and finely seasoned, so that the taste of the potatoes was not masked but intensified. Serve with a piece of bread and the soup is perfect. You can get white mulled wine to go with it here.
