These four seasoned, all-water men have one thing in common: a penchant for straight-swinging music that mediates between the rich tradition and modernity of jazz. Now Montana-born trumpeter and flugelhornist Jim Rotondi, California pianist Danny Grissett, Serbian-born bassist Milan Nikolic and his compatriot, drummer Vladimir Kostadinovic have joined forces to form an American-European quartet with which they interpret jazz classics and perform their own pieces. All four musicians refer to role models such as Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Roy Haynes, Philly Jo Jones or Paul Chambers. But they have made their own rhyme with the music of their heroes, bringing their strong personalities to the classic jazz sound.
