Nora and Torvald Helmer have a happy marriage, three healthy children, live in a nice house, and Torvald is to be promoted to the new bank director just before Christmas. You couldn't ask for a better life, could you? But the middle-class family idyll is deceptive, because once Nora forged a promissory note to save her husband's life - that fraud, dating back many years, now comes out and shakes the marriage violently, as Torvald sticks unwaveringly to social conventions.
As Nora's beautiful world of superficiality and appearances collapses, she begins to question her marriage, her home, and her life, finally breaking free from existing role attributions. With "Nora", Ibsen wrote a drama that has (unfortunately) lost none of its relevance even after 140 years.
