Off-off Broadway Theater we all know from New York. Away from the established centers, creatives stage music, spoken word or improvisational theater mostly with less money, but no less skillfully. Fortunately, we don't have to jet across the pond to enjoy this kind of art, but rather to Frankfurt's north, east or Main. Because in summer various festivals enrich our lives: Coachella says hello!

One of the most popular summer festivals is successfully organized by Michael Herl, the artistic director of the independent Stalburg Theater every year in the Günthersburgpark. The relaxed beer garden flair is a great place to listen to readings or musicians: from satirical interludes by Titanic editors to alternative rock or theatre in the Stalburg itself, the <link http: www.stalburg.de stoffel info _blank>STOFFEL (stands for Stalburg Offen Luft) spreads a hippie atmosphere as the smell of bratwurst hovers over everything, while kids hop around on picnic blankets. This is where I discovered one of my favorite music bands of late, Electric Elbow. Entertaining from June 26 to July 26, this cultural program at its finest has made it the biggest of its kind - at least in Germany - with its low-key style and earned itself a loyal fan base. With its informal atmosphere and one to three programme items every day, STOFFEL attracts around 80,000 visitors every year.

STOFFEL costs money, and yet visitors don't pay a fixed admission price. No, because the special thing about STOFFEL, apart from the brilliant and great atmosphere, is the voluntary admission. Everyone gives according to the motto "STOFFEL? I am.", what he can and wants. But now trouble is looming in paradise: A resident complained about the alleged "noise", the Ordnungsamt must act and the Musi is to play after a previous compromise now no longer here on Mondays. In the program this is now called "Quiet Monday, the first". And that, although already up to now punctually at 22 o'clock conclusion was. If you don't want to accept this, sign the current petition, which has already found over 1,000 supporters, but still needs about 450 votes. (To be found via FB)
