What does the ideal Easter look like? Meeting family, days off, looking for eggs, nice weather? I still remember that my parents used to even have snow sometimes on Easter. No wonder that our dear Goethe wrote something in the Easter walk "Vom Eise befreit sind Strom und Bäche" (Streams and brooks are freed from ice). Spring makes our world promisingly green; new spring, new hope, new happiness. For winter has departed. Nothing symbolizes new beginnings, new start and spring as much as the oldest, Christian festival - Easter. Easter bonfires, Easter bunnies are popular customs and represent fertility and the life-giving sun. What is the egg for? It embodies purity, proof of love and even sacrifice. I asked around my circle of friends and they all carry on these cherished customs today in one way or another.

such as at an Easter brunch with family and friends. Many get together to feast on Sunday. The Strandcafé invites you to brunch on Sundays in the historic vaulted cellar: not only delicious, but an ideal location, as guests warm themselves by the fireplace in cold weather. When the sun is shining, the outdoor terrace is open. So book quickly for Easter with lamb from the Röhnbauer and pretty decorations on Sunday or Monday!

Not to be missed, because incredibly cool and for all fans who love guided nature walks like me: the Easter walk! "Freed from the ice" and only on Easter Sunday, the new edition of the Easter Walk will take place. Along the 11 km long, excellent cultural hiking trail, you can relax and follow in Goethe's footsteps. The scene "In front of the gate" from Goethe's work Faust I is said to have been inspired around the year 1774 by a walk from the Sachsenhausen Mühlberg to the Gerbermühle.

On a course compiled by Frankfurt curator Annette Gloser, visual artists enrich the historical stations Gerbermühle and Wasserhof, the W3 refuge in the Oberrad city forest, Goetheruh and the Willemer Häuschen with interventions on the theme.

At the idyllic Trinkhalle at the Reitstall, hikers can expect an expert on water cottages (times to be announced) and in front of the ruins of the legendary Wasserhof, the "Here I am human, here I may be" competition will take place.

One of my favorite traditions to ring in Easter is the Easter bonfire on Saturdays. Even in Frankfurt, many community drove away evil spirits with this pagan custom. By far the largest fire in the region can be found at the Riedberg, which has already been collected for four weeks, is over two meters high and almost forty square meters in size.

The top Easter eggs I also discovered in the humor nests of the city: Who Easter is rather a bit rebellious on the road, (there should be :-)), which feels certainly in good hands with satire and cabaret in the Schmiere, which performs Saturday "The devil sits in the compartment". On the other hand, visitors can expect a completely comical contrast programme at Offenbacher Filmklubb, which impresses by still showing "real" films on a historical projector. Can anyone hear the rattling? "Gods Like Us" is a six-part German comedy series of fifteen minutes each. With storytelling from God's perspective, amusing diversions and ideal Easter are guaranteed.
