Commissioner Andreas Rauscher has it really not easy in his now ninth case. After his previous investigation was already a matter of the heart due to his love for Eintracht, this time it really hits Rauscher personally. Because an EU politician is murdered, who intended to spoil the Hessians their beloved apple wine. And of all things, an advocate of the Ebbelwoi culture is supposed to be the perpetrator. Rauscher doesn't want to and can't believe that. And so he clashes with his boss, with whom he has been at loggerheads since the Eintracht case, with the result that he is suspended. Of course, that doesn't stop Rauscher from continuing his investigation. Even when he notices that his new girlfriend, the also suspended inspector Jana Kern, suffers from his hothead and his colleagues turn away from him, he does not let go of the case. But then his son Mäxchen also gets involved.

"Ebbelwoijunkie" is the most personal case yet for the investigator from Frankfurt - and not just because of his great love of apple wine. His professional future and his private happiness are also at stake in the new Rauscher crime novel. For loyal readers, who have long grown fond of the characters, this of course increases the suspense of the entertaining novel even more. Since the case is solved at the end, but much remains unclear for Rauscher personally, it will be interesting to see how his future unfolds - and whether he has learned from past mistakes.

Because it's always his short-temperedness that gets him and others into trouble - even if this character trait has helped him solve his cases on many occasions. Should he still keep his stubbornness to the same extent as before, he would not only run the risk of losing his private happiness and his friendly colleagues, but also of slowly losing his readers. But everything indicates that there will be changes in the tenth book - whatever they will be. One can be curious!

Gerd Fischer has once again constructed a crime story enriched with a lot of local color, which after aircraft noise, gentrification of the city or Eintracht with the Ebbelwoi again deals with a topic that is close to the hearts of many Frankfurt residents. The book is written like its predecessors very entertaining, so that the 246 pages are devoured quickly. One notices while reading that here a real Frankfurt lover has hit the keys. Exactly that makes "Ebbelwoijunkie" an exciting, entertaining Frankfurt crime novel, which continues the Rauscher series very successfully and offers an entertaining read especially for all lovers of the Main metropolis with a lot of local color and its regionally oriented history. Therefore, there is for the book, in which even our mayor is presented as a fighter against EU regulatory madness and for the preservation of our cider culture, a very clear: worth reading!
